Abstract: A locking system and method for a movable freight container comprises an electronic module with a shaft that goes into a cavity in a mechanical lock module. The shaft is securely retained in the cavity by a lock mechanism in the mechanical lock module by moving the lock mechanism to a locked position. A plurality of magnetic field sensors in the shaft are used to read the position of the shaft in the cavity by sensing or not sensing one or more magnets in the lock mechanism to confirm continuous time insertion of the shaft in the cavity. A wireless communication component in the electronic module wirelessly transmits an alarm signal if the magnetic field sensors detect an unexpected interruption in at least one of the continuous time shaft position magnetic sensor readings.

Abstract: Door-lock hardware is constructed of corrosion-resistant material such as stainless steel. Such a material lacks magnetic properties to permit use in association with magnetic switches coupled to signal alarm and security systems. However, according to the preferred embodiment of the invention, a door latch of stainless steel or other non-magnetic material includes a ferrous-coated tongue portion to maintain compatibility with such monitors and alarms while providing a higher level of rust- and corrosion-resistance.

Abstract: The lock strike device is used with closable openings and is electrically connectable to an electrical monitoring circuit so that the presence or absence of a latch or deadbolt in the device can be automatically detected. The device includes a strike box having spaced sidewalls and a closed rear end. The first sidewall and adjacent portion of the rear end define an elongated cutaway portion through which an elongated blade trigger is spring biased into the strike space. The trigger is hinged at its front end to a box connected to the front of the sidewall. The rear end of the trigger is a head which urges a spring loaded lever arm of an electrical switch mounted on the exterior of the housing rear end into an open circuit position. A movable tab extends transversely into the space from the trigger. The tab senses the presence of a latch to provide a signal to an indicator.

Abstract: A latch tongue of a lock has a pair of contact points which are respectively connected to the gate and the cathode of a silicon controlled rectifier. When the lock is closed, the latch tongue is in a latch tongue housing which connects the points together thereby providing a connection between the gate and cathode. Additionally, the closing of the lock with a key causes a series connection of the anode and cathode of the rectifier with a bell and a voltage source. Abstract: A door latch operated switch for energizing an electrical appliance, such as a lamp, in response to opening and closing a door, the switch being enclosed in an insulated housing which is fixed to the inside of the wall, adjacent to and somewhat above the position of the door latch when the door is closed.
