Abstract:
A method for fabricating muntin grid pieces includes steps that attach an outer muntin grid element to an inner muntin grid element to form a two piece muntin grid piece. The outer muntin grid element surrounds at least three sides of the inner muntin grid element and may be held to the outer muntin grid element without connectors such as adhesive. The outer muntin grid element may be a slit tube that is spread open to be positioned over the inner muntin grid element.
Abstract:
A vehicle window comprising: a window glass; a glass holder comprising a groove in which the window glass is inserted to be held by being nipped, and comprising a resin material selected from a natural grade of polybutylene terephthalate, a natural grade of a polyethylene terephthalate, a natural grade of a polybutylene terephthalate containing glass fibers, or a natural grade of polyethylene terephthalate containing glass fibers; and a one-liquid adhesive layer formed between the window glass and the groove by applying a liquid comprising a urethane and an epoxy-silane coupling agent.
Abstract:
A doorlite system in which a doorlite is mounted in an opening in a door by means of an outer frame and an inner frame adapted to be screwed together, the outer frame has a body portion for insertion into the door opening from the outer side of the door, a flange for engaging the door around the perimeter of the opening and a flange for engaging the glazing unit or doorlite. Similarly, the inner frame has a body portion for insertion into the door opening from the inner side of the door and has a flange to engage the door around the perimeter of the opening and a flange for engaging the doorlite. The bodies of these frames having interengaging registering means extending continuously therearound. Further, the inner frame has a groove on its exterior side to house the heads of the securing screws and a snap on frame is provided to cover the screw heads. The invention also contemplates a divided doorlite in which two glazing members are separated by outer and inner muntin bars adapted to be screwed together to engage and support the contiguous edges of the glazing members.
Abstract:
A fenestration system including a glass unit, attachment member and decorative member is provided. The decorative member includes a rotatable coupler for easy attachment of the decorative member to the attachment member. An attachment system including a decorative member having a rotatable coupler is also provided. A rotatable coupler is also provided.
Abstract:
A retainer clip includes a shaft extending along a clip axis. The shaft has a shaft diameter and first and second opposed ends. A head extends radially outwardly from the shaft adjacent the first end of the shaft. The head has a head diameter which is greater than the shaft diameter. The head includes a cam surface extending circumferentially about the shaft and facing the second end. At least two portions of the cam surface located at different circumferential positions about the shaft are disposed at different axial distances from the second end. A frame/panel assembly may be formed by mounting and retaining a panel member in a frame using one or more of the retainer clips.

Abstract:
Components for a roof assembly include a glazing having a main support member and a cap engaging member. The cap engaging member has a detent portion extending from an edge region back towards an opposite edge region. The component also includes a beam member a main support member and a rafter support member for supporting a rafter assembly. The rafter support member has a securing portion extending from an edge region. A ridge end member is also disclosed which has a plurality of segment extending radially outwardly from a hub member. Each segment has an elongate mounting member on an edge opposite the hub member. There is also disclosed a wing member for a valley rafter assembly. The wing member has first and second elements secured together. Each of the elements comprises a portion of a mounting formation to which a glazing bar can be mounted. The components further include a bracket arrangement comprising a first bracket mountable on a first rafter assembly, and a second bracket mountable on a second rafter assembly. Securing means is provided to secure the first bracket to the second bracket.
Abstract:
A lock for retaining shutters in a closed position is disclosed. The lock includes backing and retention brackets, and a fastener. The backing bracket is mounted to a dwelling to maintain the shutters spaced from the dwelling when the shutters are in the closed position. The retention bracket includes retention and locking portions. The retention portion is spaced from the backing bracket to enclose the shutters between the retention portion and the backing bracket when the shutters are in the closed position. As such, the shutters are prevented from opening from the closed position. The locking portion extends from the retention portion to operatively engage the backing bracket. The fastener extends through the backing bracket and the locking portion to lock the retention bracket to the backing bracket such that the shutters, which are enclosed between the retention portion and the backing bracket, are retained in the closed position.
Abstract:
An impact resistant laminated glass and plastic pane is provided for a hurricane resistant door light or similar opening. A glass pane is attached to a flexible plastic sheet that protrudes beyond the peripheral edge of the glass, preferably as an extension of the plastic laminate between outer glass laminate sheets. The pane body is mounted in a building structural part such as a door or wall, at an opening or at a recess, whereby the surface of the structural part extends up to a point adjacent to the pane. According to an inventive aspect, the flexible sheet that is attached to the pane, e.g., laminated into the pane body or otherwise attached and protruding, laps over the surface adjacent to the edge of the structural part around the pane. An elongated molding element that preferably frames the opening, is attached to the structural part so as to capture the flexible sheet between the molding element and the surface.
