    摘要: According to embodiments described in the specification, an exemplary method is disclosed for hydraulically hoisting potash (or other evaporite ore) ‘fines’ material from an underground mine. The method includes mining an ore deposit using a boring machine to generate Run-of-Mine (ROM) material at a mine face, conveying the generated ROM material to an underground ore screening plant, screening the ROM material relative to a threshold size wherein the threshold size is a feed size of one or more flotation cells at a surface processing plant, mixing ‘fines’ material, comprising ROM material that is below the threshold size, with a saturated brine to create a slurry mixture wherein the saturated brine prevents the ‘fines’ material from dissolving into the slurry mixture, and pumping the slurry mixture to a surface location via one of a shaft and a borehole to the surface product separation plant.

    摘要: A feeder arrangement for a slurry transport system, which is preferably a hydro hoist, includes a chamber with a high pressure water inlet, a low pressure water outlet, and a low pressure solids inlet at a top end. The low pressure solids inlet has a transfer chute that opens into a lower section of the chamber to maintain a clear-water environment adjacent the top end. A high pressure solids and water outlet is provided at a bottom end. The inlets and outlets are controlled by suitable valves. Three such chambers are preferably operated together in sequence between incoming and outgoing columns in a mine.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for excavating and removing a settled body of discrete mineral solids (e.g., a tailings pond from a mining operation) by procedures which progress downwardly from the surface of the body. High pressure streams of liquid are traversed along a path in a pulping zone lowermost in first region of the body. The liquid forms a pumpable slurry with the mineral solids in the zone, and the slurry is then pumped from the zone leaving an undercut cavity sufficient to cause collapse of the overburden of solids. The collapsed overburden is then formed into additional pumpable slurry which is removed by pumping. Successive stages of excavation are carried out by moving the streams of liquid downwardly to a second region where the foregoing steps are repeated. In the apparatus a caisson is disposed vertically in the body and stabilized by means of a plurality of circumferentially positioned pilings. A plurality of high velocity nozzles are mounted in the caisson to direct liquid streams into a pulping zone surrounding the caisson. The slurry which is formed in the pulping zone flows through portals in the caisson into a slurry sump in the lower end of the caisson where a pump removes the slurry through a discharge line leading from the caisson. In one embodiment the caisson is fixedly secured to the caisson and jets are provided to direct liquid streams into regions below the lower ends of the caisson and pilings to sink the apparatus downwardly to the next lower region for additional stages of excavation. In another embodiment, the caisson is mounted for relative vertical movement with respect to stationary pilings.

    摘要: A safety apparatus for an inclined hoist system of the type having wheeled cars operable on a pair of tracks. A guide mount is mounted on the ties between the tracks and has a guide thereon which includes wooden members extending in the direction of travel of the car and providing lateral flanges. Guide shoes are fixed to and depend from the car and provide flange portions which project under the lateral flanges of the guide. Safety catches depend from the car adjacent the guide shoes and are aligned with continuous surfaces provided by the wooden guide, and a device which is responsive to a runaway condition of the car, is adapted to turn the safety catches into engagement with the wooden surfaces whereby gouging of the wooden members by teeth on the safety catches provides a braking effect. The invention has particular use in shafts with inclines of 20* to 45* for which a satisfactory safety apparatus does not presently exist.

The tram has a conveyor for moving material along the length of the tram. Material is transferred to the tram by a loader which is also supported on a rail and movable along the rail. The conveyor has a ramp with a loading conveyor for transporting material upwardly along the ramp. Material is discharged from an upper end of the ramp onto the tram conveyor.
