    摘要: A supplementary ignition system in an internal combustion engine having an induction coil ignition systems of the type in which a first spark signal is generated to provide a single second spark signal a predetermined time after the start of the first spark signal. The invention supplements and does not alter or affect the first spark signal the first spark signal provided by the primary ignition system for the internal combustion engine. Augmentation with the second strike ignition system results in a longer duration and higher quality double strike spark at the spark plug of the engine during the compression stroke of the engine to provide more complete combustion of the fuel/air mixture in each cylinder of the engine. Being a supplemental ignition system, it can be removed at any time with immediate reversal back to the original equipment and its performance.

    摘要: In an ignition coil assembly, a plurality of ignition coils is arranged to be electrically connected to spark plugs received in plug holes of an engine. A base cover includes a plurality of receiving through holes, which are arranged at corresponding positions that correspond to positions of the plug holes, respectively. A top cover covers a top surface of the base cover and secures each ignition coil through engagement with the head of each ignition coil. Fastening bolts temporarily fasten the top cover and the base cover in a manner that allows sliding adjustment of a securing position of each ignition coil, which is loosely received in a corresponding one of the base cover through holes, in an imaginary plane that is perpendicular to an axis of each ignition coil.

    摘要: An ignitor and associated electronics for igniting a combustible mixture in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine are described. The ignitor includes at least two spaced-apart electrodes that define a discharge gap. The space between the electrodes is substantially filled with a dielectric material. The dielectric material is spaced-apart from at least one of the electrodes to provide an air gap over which an initial voltage breakdown between the electrodes will occur. The air gap serves to vary the location of the initial breakdown and as a barrier to a short circuit between the electrodes due to carbon and/or metal deposit buildup on the dielectric material. The associated electronics provide a first potential between the electrodes that generates a plasma between the electrodes. Then the volume of the plasma is increased by the application of a second potential that creates a current through the plasma. The plasma, as well as the current passing through, is swept outward due to the interaction of Lorentz and thermal expansion forces with the plasma. Also described are relative orientations of the electrodes that lead to greater plasma formation.

    摘要: An ignition spark enhancing device and spark plug wire disposed in or establishing the electrical path between a spark source and a spark plug of an internal combustion engine. The device includes one or more coils of conductive hollow tubing formed from a length of conductive tubing and having ends each configured for connection to the spark plug wire of the device or to a spark plug. The tubing is preferably copper and may also be aluminum or other conductive material and is also preferably used to form each spark plug wire as well for durability. At least five complete loops or turns wound concentrically or in helix fashion are preferred. The device is also preferably coated with a non-conductive material to reduce any risk of electrical shock or short circuit.

    摘要: An ignition apparatus is received in a plug hole which is formed by a cylinder head and a cylinder head cover of an internal combustion engine. A side core has a slit between two horizontally extending side wall ends. The side core is selected from a laminated sheet structure comprised of two grain oriented silicon steel sheets, each having a slit between two horizontally extending side wall ends, and the plural slits align at substantially the same position. The slit prevents a one-turn short of a magnetic flux of the side core. Thereby a predetermined secondary voltage more than an engine requirement secondary voltage is obtained. An ignitor reception portion has an independent and individual ignitor reception portion and an independent and individual coil reception portion, with the ignitor reception portion and the coil reception portion being combined.
