    摘要: A supplementary ignition system in an internal combustion engine having an induction coil ignition systems of the type in which a first spark signal is generated to provide a single second spark signal a predetermined time after the start of the first spark signal. The invention supplements and does not alter or affect the first spark signal the first spark signal provided by the primary ignition system for the internal combustion engine. Augmentation with the second strike ignition system results in a longer duration and higher quality double strike spark at the spark plug of the engine during the compression stroke of the engine to provide more complete combustion of the fuel/air mixture in each cylinder of the engine. Being a supplemental ignition system, it can be removed at any time with immediate reversal back to the original equipment and its performance.

    摘要: A system and method for controlling a variable displacement engine include starting the engine with at least one bank of cylinders deactivated to increase load on at least one other bank of activated cylinders and reduce time required for an engine and/or vehicle component to reach a desired operating temperature. In one embodiment, ignition timing or spark is retarded and air/fuel ratio is biased lean for the activated cylinder bank during and shortly after starting to further reduce the time required for catalyst light off and closed loop operation. During activation of a deactivated bank of cylinders, air/fuel ratio of one or more activated cylinders is biased rich with air/fuel ratio of the deactivated cylinders biased lean. In addition, spark is retarded during activation of the deactivated cylinders to reduce the time necessary for components associated with the deactivated cylinders to reach desired operating temperatures.

    摘要: An apparatus deliveries fuel to a V-type engine having a first bank and a second bank. The apparatus has a first delivery pipe disposed in association with the first bank, a second delivery pipe disposed in association with the second bank and a fuel pipe for supplying the fuel from a fuel tank to the first delivery pipe and the second delivery pipe. Each delivery pipe has an injector for injecting the fuel from the delivery pipe to a cylinder of the engine. The fuel pipe includes a supply pipe connected with an end of the first delivery pipe to supply the fuel from the fuel tank to the first delivery pipe and a communicating pipe for communicating the end of the first delivery pipe with an end of the second delivery pipe. A first damping element is disposed at the end of the first delivery pipe to damp pressure fluctuation of the fuel supplied from the supply pipe.

    摘要: A user friendly engine delivery system is provided which employs a wheeled engine pallet assembly for transferring a dressed engine to a dynamometer room where the engine will be subsequently tested. A set of guide rails work in conjunction with a self-centering pallet locating system in order to strategically locate the engine pallet relative to the centerline of the dynamometer. Once the engine pallet is properly aligned, a clamping system is used to secure the engine pallet assembly to the bed plate of the dynamometer. A flexible fluid manifold is attached to the pallet assembly and allows a test engineer to uniquely design a fluid manifold to have the proper fluid fittings that are needed for a particular test application. The engine delivery system is versatile in that it can accommodate both front and rear wheel drive engines and further offers the flexibility of dual side entry ways.
