    Abstract: Provided is a wind turbine including a generator enclosed in a generator housing, the generator housing including a rotating housing and a stationary housing, whereby the rotating housing is separated from the stationary housing by a first gap; a canopy mounted on a tower and including an electrical connection to a down conductor of the tower, wherein the canopy is separated from the generator housing by a second gap; a lightning current path provided by a plurality of brush assemblies mounted on the stationary housing, wherein a brush assembly includes a brush holder mounted on the stationary housing such that a carbon brush extends across the first gap to make electrical contact with the rotating housing; and an electrical connector extending across the second gap to electrically connect the brush holder to the canopy. Also provided is a method of providing a lightning current path for such a wind turbine.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to supporting structures for a central frame of a direct-drive wind turbine and methods for managing such structures. A supporting structure is configured to assume a deployed configuration and a stowed configuration. In the stowed configuration, the supporting structure has a shape and size such that the supporting structure can be introduced into the central frame from an outside. In the deployed configuration, the supporting structure has one or more increased dimensions with respect to the stowed configuration, and comprises a working platform.

    Abstract: A segment sheet for a stator lamination stack of a generator of a wind turbine, wherein the segment sheet has the shape of a ring segment, having a first radial section, in which recesses are provided for receiving a stator winding, having a second radial section, which is arranged radially adjacent to the first section and which forms a segment of a magnetic yoke of the generator, and having a third radial section, which is arranged radially adjacent to the second section. The proposal is that the third radial section has at least two recesses arranged in an azimuthally spaced manner, which are designed for a positive connection to profiled strips arranged on a stator support ring.

    Abstract: A dynamo-electrical machine includes a stator and a rotor rotatable relative to the stator about an axis of rotation, the stator and/or the rotor having a plurality of segments arranged one after another in a rotational direction of the rotor, the segments each having opposing ends facing in opposite rotational directions, and being provided with flanges on the opposing ends, with respective flanges of neighboring ones of the segments in confronting relationship, each of the flanges having at least one hole oriented in the rotational direction, the at least one hole of at least one of the respective confronting flanges having an internal thread and threadably receiving a sleeve having an external thread, the respective confronting flanges being spaced apart by the sleeve, wherein a screw is received through the at least one hole of the one of the respective confronting flanges and through the sleeve and engages in the at least one hole of the other one of the respective confronting flanges, thereby exerting a force on the one of the respective confronting flanges, and connects the respective confronting flanges to each other via the sleeve.

    Abstract: Horizontal axis W/T of low wind speeds of propeller type, bearing a main rotor of three blades (1), while in the space between two successive blades (1) and diametrically opposite to the third, an additional 4th blade (2) also of propeller type but of significantly longer length, is interposed. This additional blade (2) is not permanently coupled but selectively engaged in the system of the W/T at low wind speeds, contributing to the startup and enhancing the energy production. The blade (2) bears diametrically opposite a counterweight (15) to balance the forces developed, and rotates in a plane parallel to the main rotor. The coupling of the blade (2) is preferably made at the stand-by state or at low wind speed operation of the W/T, while the uncoupling will be performed during operating state and at the rated power. The blade (2) after uncoupling, gets in vertical position and remains immobilized attached to the tower.

    Abstract: Generator rotor comprising a rotor rim and a plurality of permanent magnet modules and a plurality of anchors arranged at an outer or inner circumference of the rotor rim such that the anchors substantially fix the permanent magnet modules to the rotor, wherein the permanent magnet modules comprise a base having a bottom surface, two axially extending side surfaces and a top surface, and one or more rows of magnets mounted on said top surface, wherein the two side surfaces of the permanent magnet modules each comprise an axially extending groove, and wherein the anchors have a shape that substantially fits exactly in axially extending grooves of neighboring permanent magnet modules.
