摘要: A reduced drag wet disc brake assembly is disclosed in which the viscosity of the fluid in the assembly is capable of changing. At higher traveling speeds, the viscosity of the fluid is low. However, when the viscosity of the fluid increases the speed of the vehicle decreases. The wet disc brake assembly comprises a brake cavity, a rotating plate disposed within the cavity that is rotatingly connected to the hub, two non-rotating plates disposed within the cavity on either side of the rotating plate, a current source connected to the rotating and non-rotating plates, and an electrorheological fluid filling the brake cavity. The viscosity of the electrorheological fluid changes depending on the electric current experienced by the fluid. In an alternative embodiment, the brake assembly also includes a coiled conductive wire connected to a current source to produce a magnetic field and the cavity is filled with magnetic Theological fluid instead of electrorheological fluid. The viscosity of the magnetic rheological fluid changes depending on the magnet field experienced by the fluid. Both embodiments can also include a piston that transmits a supplemental braking torque on the rotating plate to aid in decreasing the vehicle's speed.

摘要: The invention relates to a brake disc for a rail vehicle, with which a hub body (16) and a brake ring (12) are connected to one another such that with braking procedures a thermal expansion of the brake ring (12) relative to the hub body (16) is possible. At the same time screws (15) pass through axially aligned openings in a hub flange (14) arranged on the hub body (16) and a brake ring flange (13) arranged on the brake ring (12). According to the invention the screws at their end exiting the brake ring flange (13), by way of a retaining element which, for example, may be a retaining lug (17) formed integrally on the hub body (16) or a retaining bracket fixed on the hub body, may be fixed relative to the hub body (16) so that an axially parallel position of the screws (15) and a centering of the brake ring (12) is ensured even with thermal expansions. The mounting of the screws (15) is effected indirectly via an axially displaceably movable sleeve (20) or by a retaining braket engaging into a groove on the hub. Furthermore there are provided radial guides for the brake ring (12) which may be realised, for example, by the guiding of the sleeve (20) in a slide block.

摘要: A wet disc brake and axle fluid cooling assembly is disclosed which is driven by a vehicle's axle shaft. The system comprises a brake housing, an axle shaft connected to the brake housing wherein the brake fluid can flow between the brake housing and the axle housing, an internal pump connected to the axle housing, and an external cooling tube disposed between the internal pump and the brake housing. An axle shaft is rotatingly disposed within the axle housing. A first spur gear is connected to and rotates with the axle shaft. The internal pump is comprised of an axle straight tee fitting, a pump rod rotatingly connected to the tee fitting, a propeller connected to and rotating with the pump rod that draws the fluid from either the axle housing or the brake housing, and a second spur gear that engages with the first spur gear. The axle shaft drives the pump rod as the shaft rotates, either clockwise or counter-clockwise.

摘要: An eddy-current brake device includes at least one heat exchanger for dissipating the thermal energy that is due to the eddy currents during braking. The heat exchanger is designed to define a path for the cooling liquid, which path is predetermined in order to minimize the pressure drops and maximize the rate of flow of cooling liquid circulating through the exchanger, with a view to reducing the variations in working temperature of the heat exchanger. The device may include two symmetric heat exchangers, of which the inlets, the circuits and the outlets for water are arranged symmetrically, so as to compensate for the forces due to the currents of cooling liquid and so as thus to minimize the corresponding residual torque.

摘要: A hydraulic motor (2) with a braking device (8), is acted upon by means of a control fluid via a brake release line (6). The brake release line (6) is used to allow a continuous flushing flow of control fluid through the hydraulic motor at the same time as the release of the brake. The braking device (8) is connected to the casing of the hydraulic motor (2). An outlet opening (12) of the hydraulic motor (2) leads via a leakage-oil line (13) to the tank for the control fluid. In a hydraulic travel drive with a closed hydraulic circuit, the brake release line (6) can be connected to the shut-off device (4) for the servo adjustment system of the variable-displacement pump (1), and the leakage-oil line (13) of the hydraulic motor (2) can lead to the tank for the entire hydraulic fluid in the system. Since the control fluid coming from the tank for the hydraulic fluid is always cooler than the hydraulic fluid used to drive the hydraulic motor (2) and circulating in the closed circuit, a cooling effect on the hydraulic motor (2) is obtained.

摘要: The present invention provides a brake cooling system for cooling vehicle brakes having a fascia for mounting in a front area of the vehicle. The fascia has at least one aperture therein for allowing air to pass therethrough. The aperture has a first aperture side opposing a second aperture side. The brake cooling system further has a channel structure communicating with the aperture to allow the air to pass through the channel structure. The channel structure extends back from the fascia and has a first channel side opposing a second channel side. The channel structure is constructed to channel air from the aperture to the vehicle brakes when the vehicle is moving in a forward direction.

摘要: The invention relates to a brake disk comprising two friction rings which are connected via links and between which an air channel is configured, as well as support elements which are molded to the inner peripheral area of the brake disk and designed for engaging cams of a hub of an axle of a (utility) vehicle. In the inner peripheral area of the brake disk, the support elements bridge the air channel in the manner of links and axially protrude into the area of the friction rings to such an extent that the outer surfaces of the friction rings are situated at an axial distance from the outer surfaces of the support elements even in the maximum permissible state of wear. Openings in the axle hub and the brake disk ensure sufficient cooling.
