A hydraulic control system actuates the eight-speed transmission by selectively energizing a plurality of solenoids that in turn engage the three clutches and four brakes. The hydraulic control system provides electronically modulated converter clutch control to the eight-speed automatic transmission system when the hydraulic system is in a drive position, a manual/low position, and a park/neutral position.

    摘要: A replacement forward clutch control valve assembly including a primary control land, which is designed to properly align the valve piston within its mating bore in the valve body of an automatic translate is disclosed. The primary control land has a substantially increased axial length in comparison to the original equipment manufacture valve piston without exceeding the overall length of the original valve piston. The present forward clutch control valve assembly provides a substantially improved control land-to-bore surface contact ratio and also provides a more durable end surface area for contact with the retaining clip during operation. As a result the present forward clutch control valve assembly is substantially less prone to bending and/or seizure within its mating bore during operation.

The automatic transmission has a clutch element engaged by a solenoid pressure to perform speed change. The solenoid pressure is generated by a solenoid that is driven by a solenoid drive current. The method calculates a required clutch engagement pressure and a required solenoid pressure corresponding to the required clutch engagement pressure based on a relationship between the clutch engagement pressure and the solenoid pressure. The method outputs a required solenoid drive current corresponding to the required solenoid pressure based on a relationship between the solenoid pressure and the solenoid drive current. The solenoid outputs the solenoid pressure corresponding to the required solenoid drive current.

    摘要: An electro-hydraulic pump module (10) for controlling the upshifting and downshifting of an automatic power transmission. The pump module (10) includes a plurality of individual pumps (12, 14) each in communication with a fluid source (34). Each of the plurality of individual pumps (12, 14) is in fluid communication with a respective switching valve (44, 52). Each of the switching valves (44, 52) controls the flow of fluid from a respective pump to a friction element to accomplish a desired gearshift. The plurality of pumps (12, 14) and the switching valves (44, 52) are each in fluid communication with an electronic control module (70). The electronic control module (70) activates an appropriate one of the plurality of pumps (12, 14) and an associated switching valve (44, 52) to direct fluid to the necessary friction element to drive the transmission in the appropriate gear.
