    摘要: In a method to decrease emission of mercury, a factor is selected to control a combustion process to generate a flue gas comprising fly ash with enhanced unburned carbon; the combustion process is controlled according to a factor selected from reburning fuel, flue gas temperature, OFA injection, coal particle size, LNB flow, LNB design, combustion zone air, stoichiometric ratio of fuel, fuel/air mixing in a primary combustion zone and fuel/air mixing in a secondary combustion zone to produce the flue gas comprising fly ash with enhanced unburned carbon and to vaporize mercury; and the flue gas is allowed to cool to collect fly ash with enhanced unburned carbon with absorbed mercury. A system to decrease emission of mercury; comprises a combustion zone that is controlled to generate a flue gas comprising fly ash with enhanced unburned carbon and that produces vaporized mercury; and a post combustion zone to cool the flue gas to collect fly ash with enhanced unburned carbon with absorbed mercury.

    摘要: The methods and systems of the present invention reduce NOx emissions in combustion systems, e.g., power plants, boilers, furnaces, incinerators, engines, and any combinations thereof. The inventive process decreases NOx emissions from stationary combustion sources and provides improved utilization of low-grade biomass and other waste fuels without slagging and fouling problems. The invention reduces NOx emissions while utilizing gasified fuels, including biomass and low-grade waste fuels, by gasifying solid fuels and injecting produced gas into a reburning zone of, for example, a boiler at relatively low temperatures and in relatively small amounts. By feeding the gas directly into a reburning zone, the need for gas cleaning is eliminated or substantially reduced as tars are burned in the flame and alkali species may be present at much lower levels than is the case with direct combustion applications.

    摘要: A fume hood includes a top, bottom sidewalls, front panel and a back panel that define an enclosed workspace. The fume hood also includes a movable sash for opening and closing an access opening. The fume hood also includes an air chamber having an inlet in the front panel. The air chamber includes a baffle system that evenly distributes the inlet air as the air travels through the air chamber. An unimpeded flow of air is discharged downward and away from the breathing zone of the technician and proximate to the sash to reduce the forward momentum of air trying to escape the fume hood. In an alternate embodiment, the fume hood also includes a pressure pipe for drawing a small quantity of air from the air chamber and directing a flow of air between the movable sash and the header panel. This flow of air from the pressure pipe increases the relative pressure difference between the movable sash and the header panel of the fame hood. This design reduces the amount of condition air that is exhausted from the room through the fume hood, thereby lowering the operating cost and increasing the efficiency of the fume hood.

Another embodiment is a ventilating unit having first and second sensors for respectively detecting the presence of first and second air pollutants at an interior location and starting an air pump when at least one of the first and second air pollutants is detected, an intake unit for drawing in the detected air pollutants, and a duct connecting the intake unit to the exterior for venting the detected air pollutants.
