    摘要: Heating devices and methods for mitigating heating device pollution are generally described. In an example embodiment, a heating device includes a primary combustion chamber for combustion of a fuel. A first and a second secondary combustion chamber are in fluid communication with the primary combustion chamber for receiving an exhaust flow of combustion products from the primary combustion chamber and are configured for combustion of one or more combustion products received from the primary combustion chamber. The first and second secondary combustion chambers may provide parallel fluid paths from the primary combustion chamber. A secondary combustion selector is provided for selectively allowing the exhaust flow through the first and second secondary combustion chambers.

    摘要: A control system for a solid fuel combustion appliance, e.g., a wood burning stove, includes a temperature sensor for sensing an output temperature of the appliance. A controller receives the output temperature and controls a damper associated with air flow through the stove to maintain a predetermined temperature. The system also includes a detector that senses certain conditions of the solid fuel, e.g., wood, that is burned by the stove. When additional fuel is added to the appliance, the system temporarily encourages initial combustion of the new fuel, before returning to maintaining the predetermined temperature.

A method for reducing products of incomplete combustion in fireplace emissions is presented including receiving fireplace emissions into a shell, heating said fireplace emissions to at least 1501° F. (816° C.), reacting said fireplace emissions with a catalyst substrate, and releasing the results of said reaction from said shell.

A monitor and control subsystem may be operative to issue notifications or automatically end biochar conversion. A ventilation and exhaust system including independently controllable air inlet ports (240), a chimney (300) and smoke inlet pipes (330) enables regulation of smoke flow from a combustion chamber of the kiln while a heat exchanger (1000) enables providing exhaust heat to one or more secondary applications.

    摘要: A wood or coal burning heater or stove employing a catalytic combustor in its combustion chamber having a primary air supply which feeds air to the fuel, and a secondary air supply which feeds air directly to the catalytic combustor by means of an air diffuser which sprays air evenly over the undersurface of the catalytic combustor. Combustion gases from the burning fuel in the combustion chamber pass through the catalytic combustor to a heat exchanger and then to an exhaust flue. The primary and secondary air supplies are simultaneously controlled so that maximum primary air and reduced secondary air are supplied when maximum heat is demanded, and reduced primary air and maximum secondary air are supplied when minimum heat is demanded. The ratio of primary to secondary air is precisely controlled to maximize overall heating efficiency consonant with high BTU output. A safety interlock system is also provided which only permits opening of the fuel loading door to the combustion chamber after first opening an internal path from the combustion chamber to the exhaust flue which by-passes the catalytic combustor, and maximizing the primary air supply, to thereby prevent the flow of combustion products out of the fuel loading door.
