Abstract: An air volume control valve capable of accurately measuring an air volume is provided. The air volume control valve includes a round-shaped valve body, and a valve blade and an orifice plate provided in the round-shaped valve body, where the orifice plate is located upstream of the valve blade; an upstream pressure tapping port and a downstream pressure tapping port are respectively provided upstream and downstream of the orifice plate; a distance from both the upstream pressure tapping port and the downstream pressure tapping port to the orifice plate is 0.5 times a valve diameter; the valve blade is located downstream of the downstream pressure tapping port; an inlet side of the round-shaped valve body is provided with a convergent duct fitting; and the convergent duct fitting is located at a distance of once the valve diameter upstream of the orifice plate and is tapered along an air flow direction.

Abstract: An air treatment device is disclosed. The air treatment device includes an air duct configured to deliver an air flow. A first filter stage is included and comprises at least one air filter arranged in the air duct for filtering the air flow. At least a second filter stage is also included and comprises at least one further air filter and is arranged downstream of the first filter stage (for filtering the air flow after having passed the first filter stage. The second filter stage is controllable between at least two states with different filtration efficiencies, whereby, with respect to a filtration efficiency in the first state, a filtration efficiency in the second state is lower, in particular the filtration efficiency in the second state is essentially zero. An air quality sensor is also present, the sensor allowing for measuring the air quality of the air flow in between the first and the second air filter stages.

Abstract: A fluid flow device that can measure and control a flow of a fluid is described. Various procedures, including measuring, controlling, balancing, or calibration procedures can leverage differential pressure measurement. These differential pressure measurements can be measured across the fluid flow device such that a first pressure measurement is taken upstream of the fluid flow device while a second pressure measurement is taken downstream of the fluid flow device. Moreover, one or more of the various pressure measurements, and in particular the downstream pressure measurement, can be performed at stagnation zone where the flow has stagnated. Such can provide significant amplification and/or turndown capabilities.

Abstract: A system for controlling air flow in an air handling unit having an air mover is provided. The system includes a first and a second sensing device, each receiving a first input indicative of electric power and a second input indicative of properties of air, respectively. The system further includes a processing unit to determine heat generated from a motor of the air mover based on the first input, determine density of air based on the heat generated from the motor based on the second input, and determine an actual air flow rate based on the density of the air, a speed of the motor, and dimensional characteristics of the air handling unit. Further, the speed of the motor is controlled when the actual air flow rate is different from a target air flow rate.

Abstract: The LFFC technology allows for accurate measurement and metering of fluids in a HVAC system-based on parameters such as pressure, velocity, volume, particles, and temperature. A procedure in a processor allows for the calibration of the aperture devices thru various methods in real time based on the actual system performance. The fluid aperture device calibration curves can be developed in a lab environment, on calibrated flow stands and/or field calibration methods using adaptive learning software based on sensor data. The procedure can rely on calibration curves, characterizations, equations, predictive analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, simulation software, calibrated flow stands, duplicating environmental conditions, various sensor data and programming software executed by a processor or system software. Upstream and downstream reference points for temperature, flow, particles, and pressure can be used as additional data to auto calibrate/commission the system thru the software.

Abstract: A fluid distribution apparatus that can serve as a fluid metering device that is operable on a single platform by building automation systems.
