    摘要: Surface characteristics of a surface of a three-dimensional object, such as surface area, surface area enhancement (i.e., the ratio of the actual surface area to an area of that surface projected onto an X-Y plane), and surface roughness parameters can be calculated based solely on line-based measurements and without performing the calculations required to actually create a three-dimensional image of that surface. Because a true three-dimensional image is not created, interline registration and low frequency noise limitations are eliminated from the measurement, and data can be acquired by scanning bidirectionally without adversely affecting the results. Likewise, the analysis time required to determine surface parameters is a fraction of that required by image-based techniques. This technique, being line-based rather than image-based, can be performed by any probe-based instrument, optical-based instrument, or any other instrument capable of measuring a sample surface in either digital or analog fashion.

    摘要: A mathematical contouring algorithm that automatically determines the planning volume of a sarcoma prior to designing a brachytherapy treatment plan. The algorithm, utilizing computational geometry, numerical interpolation and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, returns the planning volume in digitized and graphical forms in a matter of minutes. Such an automatic procedure reduces labor time and provides a consistent and objective method for determining planning volumes. In addition, a definitive representation of the planning volume allows for sophisticated brachytherapy treatment planning approaches to be applied when designing treatment plans, so as to maximize local tumor control and minimize normal tissue complications.

    摘要: A surface property measuring device includes a detector having a stylus, and a driving mechanism for causing the detector to advance and retreat along a surface to be measured. The measuring device further comprises a main shaft fixed to a frame of the driving mechanism in parallel with an advancing and retreating direction of the detector, and a slide block which is shaped like a rectangle in the advancing and retreating direction of the detector, sliding on the main shaft, the main shaft being inserted through two of a fore and a rear portion of the slide block. This results in improvement of the straightness accuracy in the movement of the detector, and reduces the cost while stabilizing the measurement accuracy.
