The method further involves transforming the probing signal (62) into multiple test signals, each test signal being associated with a propagation path via a portion of the target region, and correlating each of the test signals with the response signal (76) in the time domain, to generate a map of correlation strength values associated with the portions of the target region.

摘要: A method for constructing a frequency profile of an emitted signal suitable for use in a non-contact ranging system with multi-scale spectral analysis includes determining N stepped frequency chirps, wherein each frequency chirp of the N stepped frequency chirps has a linear FM modulation of predetermined bandwidth and slope, and wherein a starting frequency for each of the plurality of stepped frequency chirps is chosen so that a non-linear step profile is created which extends over a predetermined total bandwidth, sorting the plurality of N stepped frequency chirps into P sub-sequences, where P is equal to the product of decimation factors to be used in the multi-scale spectral analysis, and ordering the P sub-sequences end to end in time.

摘要: A system and a method for non-intrusive and continuous level measurement of a liquid enclosed by a solid wall of a vessel. The system comprises an ultrasonic transmitter for generating an ultrasound wave and for emitting it into the vessel wall, an ultrasonic receiver for receiving the ultrasound wave, and an electronic control and data processing unit (ECDU) for controlling operation of the transmitter and of the receiver and for determining the liquid level. The transmitter is able to emit the ultrasound wave as a primary Lamb wave into the vessel wall so that a part of the primary Lamb wave leaks from the vessel wall into the liquid in form of a pressure wave. The ECDU is adapted to repeatedly determine the time of flight of the pressure wave, change the ultrasonic frequency of the transmitter until the determined time of flight reaches a minimum, and determine the liquid level.

The generating unit 2 includes a function of generating, as a transmitting signal, a modulation wave whose frequency changes non-repetitively. The detecting unit 3 includes a function of fetching the transmitting signal and a receiving signal which is received by a receiving means that can receive a reflection signal generated when the transmitting signal is reflected by an object. The detecting unit 3 includes a function of detecting at least one of presence of the object, distance to the object, and moving speed of the object, based on correlation between the receiving signal and the transmitting signal.
