    摘要: A diffusing adhesive layer has a light-transmissible adhesive layer dispersively containing colorless light-transmissible particles so as to exhibit light diffusing characteristic. The light diffusing characteristic of the diffusing adhesive layer is not higher than 10% in terms of a light diffusion factor which is defined as 100×I30/I10 when I30 is the intensity of light transmitted in a direction inclined by 30 degrees relative to a direction of perpendicular transmission of perpendicularly incident light, and I10 is the intensity of light transmitted in a direction inclined by 10 degrees relative to the direction of perpendicular transmission of perpendicularly incident light. Another diffusing adhesive layer has a total light transmission factor of not lower than 85% and a direct transmission factor of not higher than 30%. In an optical member, one of the diffusing adhesive layers is provided on an optical material having at least a polarizing plate or a retarder plate. In a reflection type liquid-crystal display device, the optical member and one of the diffusing adhesive layers are provided between a liquid-crystal cell and a polarizing plate.

    摘要: A lighting element in which a plurality of point sources are in the form of LEDs situated between a microprism sheet and a reflective backing arrangement, the microprism sheet being of the type having a plurality of v-shaped grooves. The microprism sheet exhibits a diffusion effect, and the LEDs are situated in the grooves so that light from the LEDs that is directly incident on walls of the grooves, and light that is reflected by the backing, is combined by refraction and diffused to provide an even lighting effect. The lighting element may be made of flexible materials so that they can be formed into tubular lighting elements, or made into flat or curved panels.

    摘要: A focusing optical system is provided which prevents unevenness in a distribution of an amount of light caused by positional offset of a light source, and which can focus with high precision. A diffraction grating and a focusing lens are provided in a casing of the focusing optical system. Due to the diffraction grating, each of focused spots on a photosensitive material are focused at a magnification which is greater than a focusing magnification determined by the focusing lens. Even if a light beam is offset in a subscanning direction, unevenness in the distribution of the amount of light can be reduced and highly precise focusing can be achieved.
