摘要： A betting device is disclosed for indicating all of the combinations of numbers, for example 1 through 12, in groups of only two or three different numbers each, from at least three or four different preselected ones of the numbers. The device comprises a base card having combinations of the numbers 1 through 12 in groups of only two or three different ones of the numbers each thereon. The device further includes a first partially adiaphanous and partially transparent overlay sheet which covers all of the groups of numbers on the base card which include the number 1 and exposes all of the groups of numbers on the base card which include only numbers other than 1 when the first sheet overlays the base card. Likewise, the device includes second, third, fourth, etc. overlay sheets which cover all of the groups of numbers on the base card which include the corresponding number of that sheet and exposes all of the groups of numbers on the base card which include only numbers other than the corresponding number of that sheet when that sheet overlays the base card. As a result, when the overlay sheets corresponding to at least three or four different preselected ones of said numbers are removed from their position overlying the base card all of the combinations of the preselected numbers, in groups of only two or three different ones of the numbers each on the base card, are exposed.

摘要： A calculator has a mechanical drive means that responds to prerecorded instructions on a medium. The medium, such as an apertured card, is driven incrementally to consecutive stop positions. At each stop position, a program prompt is visually presented to the operator that defines the variable or numerical value to be entered by means of the keyboard. Upon entry, the card is physically moved to the next stop position that contains the next prompt and this is repeated until all variables in a particular program have been entered. In the physical space on the medium following every operator prompt is a series of coded machine instructions that perform the actual calculations on the variables entered by the operator. Following the entry of the last variable, the calculation is completed and the results are presented on the final stop position of the medium.

摘要： A reader for punched document cards having a slide for carrying a document card and movable manually against the action of a spring to put the document card in a pre-reading position, a governor for controlling the motion of the slide and document card in a return movement generated by the spring and a series of switches actuated by the punchings as the card returns under spring action to an initial position. One way clutch mechanism is associated with the governor so that the initial movement of the slide and document card may not be impeded by governor action. A latch operated by the slide is effective to prevent movement of the slide manually out of its initial position with no card in the reader, and the latch is negated in its action by a card in position so that the slide and card may be moved out of initial position.

摘要： A hanging filing card system comprising a frame including spaced upper rails, a plurality of magnetic metal hangers having end portions removably supported on the upper rails, and a filing card having an upper end secured to each of the metal hangers between the end portions, thereby hanging freely on the hangers, and having at the bottom a plurality of a group of holes and a plurality of slots open at their lower end. Stiletto means are selectively inserted into the holes and the slots of the cards, respectively, and a magnetized extractor means is provided for engaging the metal hangers for withdrawing cards through which the stilettos pass only through slots, by mutual magnetic attraction of the magnetized means and the metal hangers and for being moved upwardly from the frame.

摘要： A flat rectangular container having front and rear walls which are flat, parallel and spaced from each other. A partition wall is disposed between and spaced from the front and rear walls and all three of these walls are held in spaced relationship by a peripheral member which extends along three edges of the front, rear and partition walls, thereby leaving one end of the container open. The front and rear walls have apertures therethrough which are alignable with preidentified locations upon a card properly inserted into the container. Indicia are provided on the external surfaces of the front and rear walls adjacent said apertures, and such indicia identify the entries made on the cards by a marking instrument.

摘要： An information unit is provided which comprises a substantially rectangular plate and a carrier therefor. The plate has a arrangement, of opposite longitudinal edges which are encoded with identifying notch and land configurations. The opposite end portions of the plate are shaped to respectively define a pair of opposed hooklike members. The carrier has a pair of opposite walls between which are sandwiched the faces of the plate. The plate and the carrier are connected in sliding relation for parallel movement in opposite directions between a first relative position wherein the identifying configurations and only the first of the hooklike members are exposed and a second relative position wherein the identifying configurations and only the second of the hooklike members are exposed. Information units of the type described are vertically supported in a stacked arrangement with each respectively connected plate and carrier disposed in its first relative position, by an information unit retrieval apparatus. Undesired ones of the respectively connected plates and carriers are moved from their first relative position to their second relative position in response to actuation of a carrier moving assembly and individual members selectively engageable with the corresponding notches in each of the arranged plates. Desired ones of the respectively connected plates and carriers remain in their first relative position as those lands of the former that would ordinarily be engaged by the members are removed. Thereafter, a pair of opposed movable bars are brought into engagement with the first of the exposed hooklike members to affirmatively extract the desired information units from the arrangemn, while another pair of opposed movable bars, brought into engagement with the second of the exposed hooklike members, affirmatively hold the undesired information units in the arrangement.
