摘要: An acoustic absorber (10) comprises a housing or wall (11), defining an interior absorber chamber (12) connected by openings (13) to a duct (20) to reduce the sound in the duct (20). The natural frequency and impedance of the absorber (12) are variable, so that the absorber (12) can be adapted to a sound field in the duct (20) in a manner corresponding to the respective operating conditions. Such adaptation is achieved mechanically, for example, by an elastic membrane (15) for varying the volume of chamber (12), or thermally, for example, by a heating wire (14) or a wire braid (17).

摘要: An acoustic barrier systems that reduces the amount of noise entering the passenger compartment of a vehicle includes a secondary acoustic attenuator that extends from a primary acoustic barrier to a vehicle component case to envelop space around a conduit passing from the engine compartment to the component case. In one embodiment, the secondary acoustic attenuator extends from the primary acoustic barrier to the component case, with the secondary acoustic attenuator enveloping space around the conduit between the vehicle component case and the primary acoustic barrier. In another embodiment, the secondary acoustic attenuator is hingedly connected to the primary acoustic barrier to allow the secondary acoustic attenuator to be pivoted, from an orientation that allows installation of the vehicle component case, to another orientation wherein the secondary acoustic attenuator engages the vehicle component case to envelop space around the conduit between the vehicle component case and the primary acoustic barrier.

摘要: The invention provides an acoustic cooling system with a noise reduction function of the type wherein a driving condition of a sound source used in the acoustic cooling system is controlled to compress coolant by a sound wave and a cooling object is cooled making use of an endothermic action of the coolant when the compressed coolant is expanded and which can reduce noise produced from the sound source effectively. To this end, the acoustic cooling system forwards cancellation sound having a characteristic capable of offsetting or cancelling the noise originating from the sound source and includes a cancellation signal production element for producing, in accordance with a driving control signal produced by a sound source control element, a cancellation signal having a characteristic capable of cancelling the noise produced as the sound source is driven, a cancellation signal level adjustment element for adjusting the signal level of the cancellation signal in accordance with the driving control signal, and a cancellation sound outputting element for converting the cancellation signal having the adjusted signal level into a sound wave and outputting the sound wave as the cancellation sound for the noise.

摘要: An acoustic device that places existing components in a damping pattern after transmitting an acoustic signal. In one embodiment, the device comprises a transistor bridge and an acoustic transducer. The transistor bridge is coupled between two predetermined voltages having a voltage difference, and the acoustic transducer is coupled between the arms of the transistor bridge. The transistor bridge enters a damping configuration after applying an excitation pattern to the acoustic transducer. In the damping configuration, the input terminals of the transistor bridge are preferably grounded. In applying the excitation pattern, the transistor bridge preferably applies the voltage difference to the acoustic transducer in alternate polarities. In a preferred embodiment, the acoustic transducer includes a transformer having a primary winding coupled between the arms of the transistor bridge, and further includes a piezoelectric crystal coupled to a secondary winding of the transformer.

摘要: A headset has an earcup with front opening adjacent to an annular cushion formed with a plurality of openings facing the inside of the earcup that acoustically couples the earcup volume to the cushion volume. A driver is seated inside the earcup with a microphone adjacent to the driver. Active noise reducing circuitry intercouples the driver and microphone. An acoustic load that may comprise a wire mesh resistive cover and/or air mass adjacent the microphone is constructed and arranged to reduce the effect of resonances in the earcup volume.

摘要: A sound-absorbing article which is one of a lining or a shaped element and which has a sound absorptive effect over a broad frequency range particularly useful in transportation vehicle when positioned proximate a reverberant wall, the article including at least one microperforated sheet absorber which has microperforations defined therein having at least one hole diameter ranging from 0.05 mm to 2 mm, which has at least one interhole distance ranging from 1 mm to 20 mm, and which has a proportion of hole area ranging from 0.2 to 4%, based on surface area of the at least one microperforated sheet absorber; and at least one absorber which is at least one of a foam absorber and a non-woven absorber and which is positioned at a preselected spatial distance from a reverberant wall.
