    摘要: An acoustic barrier systems that reduces the amount of noise entering the passenger compartment of a vehicle includes a secondary acoustic attenuator that extends from a primary acoustic barrier to a vehicle component case to envelop space around a conduit passing from the engine compartment to the component case. In one embodiment, the secondary acoustic attenuator extends from the primary acoustic barrier to the component case, with the secondary acoustic attenuator enveloping space around the conduit between the vehicle component case and the primary acoustic barrier. In another embodiment, the secondary acoustic attenuator is hingedly connected to the primary acoustic barrier to allow the secondary acoustic attenuator to be pivoted, from an orientation that allows installation of the vehicle component case, to another orientation wherein the secondary acoustic attenuator engages the vehicle component case to envelop space around the conduit between the vehicle component case and the primary acoustic barrier.

    摘要: The present invention is a damper seal which is used in sealing a tube, such as a fuel nozzle, into a housing, such as a fuel canister. The damper seal provides increased sealing capabilities as the pressure inside the housing increases and further dampens vibrations which may occur between the housing and the tube. The damper seal includes a damper portion having outer and inner longitudinally extending scallops to define outer and inner contact surfaces for the damper seal. The inner and outer scallops are circumferentially offset from each other to enhance the vibration dampening characteristics of the damper seal. In addition, inner and outer seals having a U-channel located therebetween are provided for sealing against a tube and a housing, respectively, wherein the U-channel facilitates a positive biasing of the inner and outer seals into engagement with cooperating surfaces in the presence of a fluid pressure.

    摘要: In the case of conventional seal arrangements comprising a sealing ring (5) consisting of a tough-elastic plastic material and a rubber-elastic stressing ring (6), where one edge (53) of the sealing ring (5) is in contact with the circumference of a rod (1), the pressing force encountered at the edge is dependent, to a very high degree, on the fluid pressure because the fluid pressure acts upon the circumferential surface of the sealing ring (5) either directly or via the rubber-elastic stressing ring (6). The pressing force, which consequently rises considerably in the presence of high fluid pressure, leads to high frictional forces at the sealing edge (53), which increase even further in the course of operating time. The invention makes the system independent of the operating pressure by the fact that the stressing ring (6) is arranged at the high-pressure end of the sealing ring (5) and that the size of the surface, upon which the fluid pressure acts from the outside, can be exactly determined by the particular configuration of the contact surface for the stressing ring.

    摘要: A seal, especially a flat, gasket-type seal for placement between two structural machine parts. The seal has an elastomeric sealing member which is associated with a carrier member. The structural parts which are to be sealed off are adapted to be pressed against surfaces of the carrier member. The carrier member is made of a resistant synthetic material which is resistant to compression. To provide a one-piece component, the elastomeric sealing member is securely vulcanized to the carrier member. The vulcanized connection includes a peripheral surface which extends transversely between sealing portions of the elastomeric member, and a side surface of synthetic material which is disposed transversely between synthetic material abutment surfaces of the carrier member.
