摘要： A disk drive 100 capable of receiving a cartridge 20 having a disk 42 with a diameter of about 3.5 inches which can contain at least 105 megabytes of data includes an operating mechanism 112 for initiating and controlling the positioning of an actuator arm 176 upon which is mounted a read/write transducer 178. The position of a spindle motor 224 which is used to spin up the disk 42 contained in the cartridge 20 to an operating speed, the locking of the cartridge 20 in the disk drive 100 in an operating mode and the ejection of the cartridge 20 from the drive 100. The operating mechanism 112 can function to eject the cartridge 20 whether or not the drive 100 is powered up in order to be able to remove the cartridge 20 and transport it to another disk drive 100 or to a secured location in a plane substantially parallel to the disk 42 contained in the cartridge 20. The cartridge 20 includes a mounting mechanism 48 for accomplishing the motion of the door 44 from the closed to the opened position and locking mechanism 50 for locking the door 44 in the closed position. Further, the cartridge 20 includes a groove 52 which extends rearwardly and across the cartridge in order to lockingly engage the cartridge in the drive 100.

摘要： A base of an arm having a driving projection at its tip is rotatably supported on a turn table. The turn table is provided with a first guide part and a second guide part, an outer edge part of the base of the arm and a first guide part are in contact with each other at a contact point, and a projection and a second guide part are in contact with each other at a contact point. While the arm rotates in a counterclockwise direction, the contact points are moved, and it is possible to prevent the center of the driving projection from largely deviating from a reference normal. Thus, even if a hub in which the position of the driving hole is shifted is mounted, the hub is not largely shifted in a rotation direction relative to a turn table.

摘要： An FDD chucking device includes a magnetic disc on which a center hub of a floppy disk is rested and which rotates in a predetermined direction, and a driving arm equipped with a driving pin on one end thereof and an engaging member on the other end thereof. The magnetic disc is provided with a driving pin through hole, a driving arm receiving hole, and first and second thin-wall portions exposed in the through holes. The driving pin is inserted in the driving pin through hole, and the engaging member is inserted in the driving arm receiving hole to lock them onto the first and second thin-wall-portions to thereby loosely fit the driving arm in the magnetic disc.

摘要： There are disclosed recording/reproducing devices for use with computers and particularly for recording or reproducing desired information on or from recording mediums like floppy disks, the devices being miniaturized and reduced in thickness for adapting themselves to the miniaturized computers of nowadays. The reduction in device thickness involves the use of a small-sized rare earth group magnet and neodymium ferrous boron which have good magnetic properties as rotor magnets of disk and carriage driving motors; or alternatively planar superpositions are avoided when placing the disk driving motor and the carriage or a carriage guide shaft and a circuit board. The thinned recording/reproducing devices contribute to diminishment of a space for accommodating the computer to meet a demand for miniaturization thereof. A plurality of miniaturized recording/reproducing devices of the invention can be set in the existing space for placement.

摘要： In a thin floppy disk drive comprises a disk shutter arm (26), rotatably mounted on a disk holder (22), for opening and closing a shutter (43) of a floppy disk (40) and an eject lever (25), rotatably mounted on a main frame (13), having an eject stop part (253) engaged with a plate stopper portion (212) of an eject plate (21), the eject lever (25) has an eject protrusion (252a). The disk shutter arm (26) has a shutter hook part (261a) engaged with the eject protrusion so as to control a rotation operation of the eject lever when the floppy disk (40) is not inserted in the thin floppy disk drive. It is therefore possible to prevent the elect lever (25) from rotating over a predetermined rotation angle as far as the floppy disk (40) is not inserted in the thin floppy disk drive.
