    摘要: An optical element having compatibility among two or more wavelengths and having an excellent converging performance for light with each wavelength, and an optical head apparatus using the optical element are provided. An optical element according to the present disclosure has a first region including an optical axis and a second region formed around the outer circumference of the first region. The first region and the second region respectively have a first diffraction structure and a second diffraction structure each cyclically formed on an aspheric surface and having a step-like cross section. In the first region, the number of steps included between top portions of the first diffraction structure is different from the number of steps included between the optical axis and a top portion that is closest to the optical axis in the first diffraction structure.

    摘要: An optical memory playback apparatus is constructed so that a single longitudinal mode of laser beam emitted from a self-coupling semiconductor laser element is projected through an optical system onto an information recording medium and the laser beam reflected by the information recording medium is returned through the same optical system back to the semiconductor laser element. In addition, the apparatus interposes a spatially uneven phase plate in the optical system, whereby the longitudinal mode of emission of the semiconductor laser element is converted into a random multi-mode at all times and, consequently, the reproduction of information from the information recording medium is effected by detecting the variation in the intensity of output or terminal voltage of the semiconductor laser element which occurs in conformity with the variation in the intensity of the reflected laser beam.

In the objective lens, NA1 is greater than NA2. The objective lens has an optical lens for receiving the first light beam and the second light beam. The optical lens has a peripheral diffraction structure disposed substantially outside an area of incidence of the second light beam for suppressing fluctuation in wavefront aberration of the first light beam, and a phase step structure disposed in a central region relative to the peripheral region for producing a phase difference in the second light beam.

The diffractive optical element includes a first diffractive surface that neither diffracts the light beam of the first wavelength λ1 nor the light beam of the third wavelength λ3 but diffracts the light beam of the second wavelength λ2, and a second diffractive surface that neither diffracts the light beam of the first wavelength λ1 nor the light beam of the second wavelength λ2 but diffracts the light beam of the third wavelength λ3, and each of the first and second diffractive surfaces satisfies the following condition inequality: Λ/λ≧8 wherein A represents the minimum pitch in the case that the width which generates a phase difference of one wavelength when the closest wavefronts resulting from adjacent steps in each of the diffractive surfaces are linked with each other is defined as one pitch, and λ represents the wavelength of the diffracted light.
