摘要: A tie rod having a cruciform cross section is provided with steps for fixing sheaths at tips of cruciform arms of the tie rod; the tips of each of sheaths are fitted onto the steps of the tie rod, each of the sheaths having a U-shaped cross section; and each of the sheaths is fixed to the tie rod by performing a laser welding using a YAG (yttrium aluminum garnet) laser beam or a CO2 laser beam with the sheath being fitted onto the tie rod to achieve a continuous weld of at least a part of the tie rod in a longitudinal direction thereof. An axial center position of the beam is shifted from an end face position of the step of the tie rod at least toward an axis center of the tie rod.

摘要: A tubular blank (22) is rolled on a mandrel (14) in a pilgrim rolling mill. In a first rolling stage, a first part of the blank (22) is rolled on a first part (18, 19) of the mandrel (14), with a reduction of the outside diameter of the blank (22) to the outside diameter of the guide tube and a reduction of the wall thickness of the blank (22) to one of a first wall thickness (e1) and a second wall thickness (e2) exceeding the first wall thickness (e1). The mandrel (14) is advanced in the axial direction. A second part of the blank (22) is rolled on a second part (20,21) of the mandrel spaced from the first part in the axial direction with a reduction of the outside diameter of the blank to the outside diameter of the guide tube and a reduction of the wall thickness of the blank (22) to the other of the first wall thickness (e1) and second wall thickness (e2).

摘要: Non-oxide debond coated reinforcing fibers that are resistant to oxidation at temperatures above about 1200° C. are described. The debond coatings are non-hygroscopic, and exhibit debond performance equal to or better than the prior art such coatings. The coated fibers of the present invention comprise a non-oxide fiber with or without a thin conventionally applied pyrolytic carbon layer overcoated with a non-hygroscopic silicon and titanium containing single or multi-layer structure that imparts all of the properties demanded of a debond coating while additionally providing exceptional oxidation resistance protection.

摘要: The invention relates to a control rod for a boiling water reactor. The control rod comprises a top piece and a bottom piece between which an absorber part is arranged. The absorber part comprises a central part (4) and four absorber blades (3) extending from the central part (4). The absorber part comprises a channel (10) which comprises the central part and which extends along the length of the whole absorber part. The channel is surrounded by walls of a neutron-absorbing material with a long service life, for example hafnium. The channel is at least partially filled with a moderator, for example light water. During the manufacture the absorber part has undergone a heat treatment such that the hafnium alloy has been completely or partially transformed from &agr;-phase to &bgr;-phase and thereafter been rapidly cooled to &agr;-phase.
