Abstract: A ceramic resin is provided, along with its methods of formation and use. The ceramic resin may include a crosslinkable precursor, a photoinitiator, ceramic particles, and pore forming particles. The ceramic resin may be utilized to form a ceramic casting element, such as via a method that includes forming a layer of the ceramic resin; applying light onto the ceramic resin such that the photoinitiator initiates polymerization of the crosslinkable precursor to form a crosslinked polymeric matrix setting the ceramic particles and the pore forming particles; and thereafter, heating the crosslinked polymeric matrix to a first temperature to burn out the pore forming particles.

Abstract: A porous refractory in the K2O—SiO2—B2O3 system is formed by chemical direct foaming by heating to over 600° C., resulting in adherent black or white foam. Abstract: A ceramic mixture paste includes oxide ceramic particles, burn-off particles, and a firing aid. The burn-off particles are burned off at a temperature lower than the firing temperature of the oxide ceramic particles. The firing aid melts at a temperature lower than the firing temperature. The ratio of the volume of the burn-off particles to the volume of the oxide ceramic particles is more than 0% and less than or equal to 20%.

Abstract: A particulate filter and method of manufacture. The particulate filter comprises a ceramic honeycomb body comprising a plurality of intersecting walls that define a plurality of channels extending longitudinally though the ceramic honeycomb body. The intersecting walls comprise a porous ceramic material having a microstructure that comprises an interconnected network of porous spheroidal ceramic beads. The microstructure has a total porosity defined as the sum of an open intrabead porosity of the beads and an interbead porosity defined by interstices between the beads in the interconnected network. The microstructure has a bimodal pore size distribution in which an intrabead median pore size of the intrabead porosity is from 1.5 μm to 4 μm and an interbead median pore size of the interbead porosity is from 6 μm to 20 μm.

Abstract: A ceramic honeycomb structure having pluralities of flow paths partitioned by porous cell walls; (a) the cell walls having porosity of 50-60%; and (b) in a pore diameter distribution in the cell walls measured by mercury porosimetry, (i) pore diameters at cumulative pore volumes corresponding to particular percentages of the total pore volume being within specific ranges and having specific relationships; and (ii) the difference between a logarithm of the pore diameter at a cumulative pore volume corresponding to 20% of the total pore volume and a logarithm of the pore diameter at 80% being 0.39 or less, and its production method.
