    摘要: A shielding grid constructed of a radiation absorbing material for use with an array of discreet, non contiguous radiation sensors to protect such sensors from scattered radiation. The sensors each have a radiation sensitive area with a width and a length. In designing the grid a prototile having a prototile width and a prototile length is developed. The prototile width is equal to the radiation sensitive area width divided by an integer and the prototile length is also equal to the radiation sensitive area length divided by an integer. The prototile contains a pinwheel motif of radiation absorbing material contained solely within the prototile that forms a pattern when a plurality of prototiles sufficient to cover the array of discreet sensor are arrayed contiguously. The grid is constructed with the radiation absorbing material in this pattern.

    摘要: A radiation shielding material is manufactured from an elastomer that is blended with a radiation-absorbing filler material. The filler material comprises a powder of a metal with a high atomic member, or compounds thereof. The filler material is represented by more than 80 percent weight and has a grain size distribution in the range of 20 &mgr;m to 120 &mgr;m. The filler material is mixed with a loading material in powdered form. That mixture is kneaded with the elastomer within a mixer while the temperature is maintained below 180° C. The kneaded mixture is cooled and then cut into strips. The strips are passed through a strainer having a mesh width of between 5 &mgr;m and 1000 &mgr;m. The strained strips are then formed into a foil.

    摘要: A computed tomography apparatus includes a scanning unit which is rotatable relative to an examination zone, about an axis of rotation extending through the examination zone, a radiation source for generating a radiation beam, a diaphragm arrangement which is arranged between the radiation source and the examination zone in order to form a fan beam traversing the examination zone from the radiation beam, and a two-dimensional detector arrangement including a plurality of detector elements and a part of the measuring surface of which detects primary radiation from the fan beam whereas another part of its measuring surface detects scattered radiation produced in the examination zone. Perfect acquisition of the momentum transfer spectrum is achieved in that a collimator arrangement with a plurality of lamellas is arranged between the examination zone and the detector arrangement. The lamellas preferably are situated in planes that intersect each other at the focus of the radiation source and subdivide the fan beam into a number of segments so that the detector elements present in a column extending parallel to the axis of rotation are struck by primary radiation or scattered radiation from the same segment.

    摘要: A radiation anti-scatter device comprising a grid and a grid driver connected to the grid for unidirectionaly moving the grid with a variable grid velocity along a path between a starting and an end position, and a method of providing such grid motion. The variable grid velocity may have a velocity profile V1=k1t for a first period and then V2=k2t−m for a second period, where V1 and V2 are velocity, k1 and k2 are constants, t is time, and m is an exponent having a value greater than 0. The anti-scatter device may be a component of a direct radiographic diagnostic imaging system which includes an image-producing element having an array of radiation detectors aligned in rows, and where the anti-scatter device is a grid having vanes oriented at an angle to the detector rows. Radiation emission may be synchronized with the grid motion to optimize a radiograph for a particular grid, radiation source, or examination procedure. The apparatus implements a method for reducing Moir{acute over (e)} patterns in radiographic detectors having an array of sensors by unidirectionaly moving the grid in a single stroke during the radiation exposure with an asymptotically decreasing speed profile such that grid motion is maintained for a plurality of different radiation exposure times.

    摘要: An injection molded anti-scatter grid is fabricated from an engineered thermoplastic to form a focused x-ray absorbent framework defining a plurality of inter-spaces. The engineered thermoplastic has higher yield strength than conventional anti-scatter grid fabrication materials, which produces a structurally rigid grid that renders conventional fiber-like inter-space material unnecessary, and further allows the grid to be flexed in one or more directions to change an effective focal length of the grid. The engineered thermoplastic is loaded with high density particles in order to be x-ray absorbent, while still maintaining desired structural properties.

    摘要: A scattered-ray grid has a carrier with absorption elements arranged thereon in spaced rows which proceed essentially spoke-like relative to a grid center. Except for one or more rows which originate at the grid center, the individual rows of the scattered-ray grid, or of substantially identical grid sectors of the scattered-ray grid each originate from respectively different radii. The origin of each row is situated in an angle section, which is determined on the basis of at least two points lying on a circle, or an arc of circle, with a predetermined radius and which is divided in a predefined ratio for determining the position of the origin. The predetermined radius is incremented in a stepwise manner to define respective origins for all of the rows.
