Abstract: A method of making a homogeneous mixture of polyolefin solids and liquid additive without melting the polyolefin solids during the making. The method comprises applying acoustic energy at a frequency of from 20 to 100 hertz to a heterogeneous mixture comprising the polyolefin solids and the liquid additive for a period of time sufficient to substantially intermix the polyolefin solids and the liquid additive together and while maintaining temperature of the heterogeneous mixture above the freezing point of the at least one liquid additive and below the melting temperature of the polyolefin solids, thereby making the homogeneous mixture without melting the polyolefin solids.

Abstract: A method for making a cured rubber sheet, the method comprising providing an uncured rubber sheet, where the uncured rubber sheet includes opposing planar surfaces; applying a curable coating composition to at least one planar surface of the uncured rubber sheet to form at least one layer of curable coating composition, where the curable coating composition includes a polymer with a silicon-containing hydrolyzable terminal group polymer; subjecting the curable coating composition to curing conditions that cure the coating composition and thereby form at least one cured coating layer on the uncured rubber sheet, wherein the at least one cured coating layer includes a cured residue of the polymer with a silicon-containing hydrolyzable terminal group polymer; rolling the uncured rubber sheet having at least one cured coating layer onto itself to form a roll; and subjecting the roll to curing conditions that cure the uncured rubber sheet and thereby forms a roll of cured rubber sheet.

Abstract: An artificial flower, plant, or other botanical is produced from an aqueous agar-based solidifying mixture. The artificial botanical may be colored as desired by adding one or more colorants. The artificial botanical may also be scented by adding a perfume, odorant, or other scent. Because the artificial botanical is produced using the aqueous agar-based solidifying mixture, no animal-based gelatin products are used. The artificial botanical may thus also be edible and satisfies vegan diets. The artificial botanical may thus also be flavored by adding a flavoring, such as fruit, concentrate, or sweetener. The artificial botanical may be all-natural and edible by adding mica powder as the colorant and by adding glycerin as the flavoring.

Abstract: A method for producing a microporous material comprising the steps of: providing an ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE); providing a filler; providing a processing plasticizer; adding the filler to the UHMWPE in a mixture being in the range of from about 1:9 to about 15:1 filler to UHMWPE by weight; adding the processing plasticizer to the mixture; extruding the mixture to form a sheet from the mixture; calendering the sheet; extracting the processing plasticizer from the sheet to produce a matrix comprising UHMWPE and the filler distributed throughout the matrix; stretching the microporous material in at least one direction to a stretch ratio of at least about 1.5 to produce a stretched microporous matrix; and subsequently calendering the stretched microporous matrix to produce a microporous material which exhibits improved physical and dimensional stability properties over the stretched microporous matrix.

Abstract: A golf ball material contains (i) fine particles that have an average particle size of less than 300 μm and are composed of a crosslinked multi-component copolymer having conjugated diene units, non-conjugated olefin units and aromatic vinyl units; and (ii) a thermoplastic resin. The conjugated diene units include butadiene units, the non-conjugated olefin units include units selected from the group consisting of ethylene, propylene and 1-butene units, the aromatic vinyl units include styrene units, and the content of the conjugated diene units in the multi-component copolymer is 5 wt % or more. This golf ball material is soft, has an excellent rebound resilience and also has a good processability.

Abstract: Provided are a quality inspection method and a quality inspection system for unvulcanized rubber material. A final dielectric constant measurement device detects the dielectric constant of a final rubber material in which a compounding agent of predetermined type is mixed with unvulcanized rubber, and a calculator calculates a compounding ratio of the compounding agent to the final rubber material based on the detected dielectric constant, determines whether or not the calculated compounding ratio is in a preset compounding reference range, displays a determination result on a monitor, and adjusts a ratio of the compounding agent fed into an extruder to the unvulcanized rubber such that the calculated compounding ratio is within the compounding reference range.
