An authenticating system according to the present invention has a characteristic structure of which an authenticating section 32 of a note type PC 10 and an authenticating section 42 of a battery 20 are directly connected through I/O ports 51 and 61, respectively. Thus, the authenticating system according to the present invention can be relatively easily accomplished using a conventional system. The present invention can be applied to a system that is composed of a plurality of electronic devices that perform an authenticating process.

A flashlight includes a barrel for retaining batteries. A reflector and lens located at one end is rotatable axially to vary the reflection dispersion of a light beam emanating through the lens from a lamp bulb. An internal cylindrical sleeve within the barrel provides the electrical path between a tail cap adjacent the one electrode end of the batteries and the end adjacent the reflector, lens, and bulb. The sleeve is a non-ferrous nickel plated material for improved conductivity between component parts.

A pair of electrodes is placed in each of the plurality of chambers. A first electrode has a positive electromotive force and a second electrode has a negative electromotive force. The first electrode and the second electrode are placed in the chamber to form a void spaced between the first electrode and the second electrode. A liquid is placed in the void space of each chamber. Metal wires are used to connect the second electrode of each chamber with the first electrode of an adjacent chamber.

Provided is a cell wherein out of electrodes constituting the cell, the outermost two electrodes are both cathodes, cathode current collectors of the cathodes are single-side coated with cathode active materials on the first surfaces thereof, other sides of cathode current collectors non-coated with cathode active materials are disposed toward the outside of a cell assembly and the thickness of cathode current collectors is 70 to 150% of that of the cathode active material coated layer. The cell in accordance with the present invention exhibits excellent safety in a nail penetration test.
