    Abstract: This deformation detection sensor for a sealed secondary battery comprises: a polymer matrix layer attached to an exterior body among members constituting a battery; a casing sandwiching the exterior body together with the polymer matrix layer; a spacer layer sandwiched, along with the polymer matrix layer, between the exterior body and the casing; and a detection unit detecting a change in the external field arising in response to a deformation of the polymer matrix layer. When C is the surface area on a placement surface of the exterior body for attaching the polymer matrix layer and the spacer layer, A is the contact surface area between the placement surface and the polymer matrix layer, and B is the contact surface area between the placement surface and the spacer layer, the relationship 0.15≤(A+B)/C≤1 is established.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a rechargeable battery comprising a battery housing which has a cell cavity, or several cell cavities separated by dividing walls. One or more of the cell cavities have at least one respective positive and negative electrode, separated from each other by at least one separator, and a liquid electrolyte. One or more of the cell cavities have a respective wall element, which partitions the respective cell cavity into at least two volume chambers which communicate with one another. At least in the lower regions of the volume chambers, a communicating connection between the volume chambers for the liquid electrolytes is provided and in the upper region of the volume chambers, a pressure compensation connection between the volume chambers for assuring equal air pressure in the volume chambers communicating chambers is provided. Also disclosed is a wall element for such a rechargeable battery, and a battery housing.

    Abstract: A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly including a negative electrode layer, a separation film and a positive electrode layer arranged in a first direction; and a case in which the electrode assembly is accommodated, the case including a first pressing portion which faces a first side surface of the electrode assembly accommodated in the case and applies a first pressing force to the electrode assembly along the first direction. The first pressing portion includes: a first surface facing the first side surface of the electrode assembly accommodated in the case; and a second surface opposite to the first surface and exposed outside the case, the second surface of the first pressing portion including a plurality of first curved grooves arranged along the first side surface of the electrode assembly accommodated in the case and lengthwise extending in a second direction crossing the first direction.

    Abstract: An electrochemical device comprising an electrode assembly in which two types of electrodes are stacked or wound with separators interposed therebetween and an outer container that accommodates the electrode assembly; wherein electrode terminals extend to the outside from within the outer container. The films which cover the electrode assembly overlap each other on the outside of the outer peripheral portion of the electrode assembly, and the outer container is formed by bonding the films to each other.
