摘要: An electric motor having a regenerative braking capability is described which has several embodiments, each of which utilize two pairs of brushes, each pair of which has individual brushes positioned on diametrically opposite sides of the commutator. One pair is positioned for preferably optimally running the motor while the other pair of brushes is used solely for braking purposes. For normal motor or running operation, a motor switch assembly interacts with an activating mechanism to physically lift the pair of braking brushes from the surface of the commutator and also ensures that the running brushes come into contact with the commutator. When the motor switch assembly is switched to stop the motor, the switch assembly causes the activating mechanism to first lift the running brushes from the surface of the commutator and then place the braking brushes onto the commutator surface.

摘要: A method or apparatus for controlling a brushless motor having an inverter. The inverter comprises a first and a second plurality of switching elements at a first and second phase sides, respectively, and a drive control device. The drive control device switches either a state of the first or the second plurality of switching elements. A first transient voltage is generated in each second switching element when the state of the second plurality of switching elements is switched. The second transient voltage is generated in each first switching element when the state of the first plurality of switching element is switched. Timing of switching the state of the first plurality of switching elements by the PWM control is altered, such that a combined voltage of the first and the second transient voltage is less than a maximum allowable voltage of the first plurality of switching element or of the second plurality of switching elements.

摘要: A circuit and method for controlling a rotating machine (11) in the constant horsepower range above base speed uses an inverter (15) having SCR's (T1-T6) connected in series with the primary commutation switches (Q1-Q6) to control turn off of the primary commutation switches and to protect the primary commutation switches from faults. The primary commutation switches (Q1-Q6) are controlled by a controller (14), to fire in advance or after a time when the back emf equals the applied voltage, and then to turn off after a precise dwell time, such that suitable power is developed at speeds up to at least six times base speed.

摘要: An H-type motor bridge coil driver circuit is implemented with an electronic switch in each leg segment of an H-shaped circuit, this bridge circuit having its side legs each connected between a power supply and ground, with the inductive load of a motor coil being connectable as the cross leg of the H-shaped circuit. An alternate current path, voltage level stabilizing element may be connected across each leg segment electronic switch. A coil excess energy storage element may be connected to the coil nodes of the circuit, through alternate current path elements and utilized to temporarily store the discharging of the excess coil energy normally available because of the lagging nature of the motor coil current. This temporary storage element then may discharge this energy back to the power supply through a passive circuit element, and reverse polarity protection is included for the power supply.

摘要: An integrated control and diagnostics system for a controlled system (e.g., a motor) includes a diagnostics module and a controller coupled to the motor. To optimize operation, the diagnostics information signal is used to modify the control provided by the controller as required. Moreover, the output of the control module is coupled to the diagnostics module so that the health assessment made by the diagnostics module can be based at least in part on the output of the controller. The invention uses a model-based diagnostics approach that allows integration of control algorithms with diagnostics algorithms to intelligently trade off optimizing performance to avert or accommodate failures, and to meet performance requirements in a wide range of applications.
