    摘要： A method for choosing a compression process for a scanned image includes scanning an image, forming a bitmap of the scanned image and selecting at least one portion of the scanned image as a compression test subject. The selected portion is selected by a variety of compression techniques and a score for each technique is assigned. The compression technique with the best score is then used to compress the entire bitmap of the scanned image.

    摘要： An image processing device includes a scanner, which reads a plurality of images and inputs them as multivalue digital image data; a matching data producing section which, based on the inputted multivalue image data, produces matching data for joining the respective inputted images; a post-processing section, which binarizes the image data of each image inputted by the scanner; a joining section, which synthesizes the respective inputted images into a single image by joining the binary data produced by the post-processing section, which corresponds to the image data of the respective inputted images, on the basis of the matching data produced by the matching data producing section; and a printer for outputting the image joined by the joining section. Thus an image processing device can be provided which is capable of joining any type of image, whether from written characters, halftone dot, or photographic originals, and of performing this joining processing at high speed.

    摘要： In a mode of continuously forming different images, such as a serial page copy mode and an enlargement serial copy mode, which of the images are to be formed, and how they are to be formed is previewed prior to the start of a copy operation. At an operation unit an operator sets a selected mode, for example, the serial page copy mode, by sequentially depressing a preview key and an image reading key to supply image data to a preview processing unit which displays the output image on a CRT prior to printing. The output images may be displayed in the order to be copied. The output images may also be collectively displayed on the same screen, or the continuous display during preview may be temporarily interrupted or resumed at a desired timing.

    摘要： Image data received via a communication line is stored in a data memory. The image data that has been stored in the image memory is not output intact but is subjected to a pixel reducing operation by a CPU. As a result, the image data is compressed in such a manner that an integral number of image pages will fit on one page on the receiving side. The resulting image is developed in a bit-map memory. Upon observing an output of an compressed image, the operator selects the necessary data and designates the required image using a keyboard. The designated image is read out of the data memory, developed intact in the bit-map memory and printed out in the received size.
