    摘要: Frames received by base stations (base stations) (103-107) are assigned a frame-quality indicator (FQI) by the base station. FQI information for all frames received is continuously backhauled to a switch (101). The switch (101) sidehauls the FQI information to a call anchoring base station, where a determination of a base station with the best FQI for each frame takes place. Once the anchoring base station determines a base station with the best FQI for a particular frame, the anchoring base station sends a FORWARD_FRAME message to the base station with the best FQI, or, if the anchoring base station is the base station with the best FQI, nothing is sent to the other base stations. Once the FORWARD_FRAME message is received by a base station, the base station immediately forwards the frame (identified by the frame number) to the switch (101). The switch (101) then routes the selected frame accordingly.

    摘要: A switch (101) performs distribution functions by distributing packets to base stations that were most recently heard from. More particularly, as a gateway (115) provides frames to the switch (101), the switch (101) distributes the frames to all base stations in communication with a remote unit (113). In order to determine the plurality of base stations requiring the frames, an identification of base stations (on a per-call basis) currently backhauling data to the switch (101) for the call is maintained. The switch (101) then distributes frames received from the gateway (115) to those base stations currently providing uplink frames to the switch (101) for the particular call.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method for evaluating a communication link between a first communication site and a second communication site. The first and second communication sites increment a sent counter and reset a received counter upon sending a message to the other communication site. Each communication site also increments a received counter and reset a sent counter upon receiving a message from the other communication site. When the sent counter exceeds a sent threshold, the communication system site sends an alert that the communication link is down. When the received counter exceeds a predetermined percentage of the other communication site's sent counter, the site sends a message to the other communication site to let the other communication system site know that it is still receiving messages.

The browser-enabled device includes a modulated laser that is directed toward target sensors located on or near objects for which information is sought by a user.     摘要: A properly modulated carrier signal exits transmission circuitry (201) and enters a first and a second mixer (203, 205). The modulated carrier is mixed with a first and a second function by the first and the second mixers (203, 205). The functions are generated by a first and a second signal generator (207, 209). The mixed signals exit the mixers (203, 205), and are amplified (via amplifiers 211-213), to be radiated by an antenna (211). The antenna (221) comprises two orthogonal antenna elements (215, 217), that are in close proximity with one another (although not in contact). One of the mixed signals is radiated on a first element (215), and the other mixed signal is radiated on the second element (217). The resulting signal transmitted from the antenna (221) is the original carrier signal having the plane of polarization constantly changing. Thus a reflected signal emitted an instance earlier cannot interfere with a wave currently emitted.

    摘要: A system and method for efficiently and effectively simulating hardware-in-the-loop testing of a wireless communications network. The system and method employs an optical matrix-vector multiplier (MVM) for performing optical signal processing to simulate radio frequency (RF) signal propagation characteristics in a mobile wireless communications network. Specifically, the system and method employs an optical modulator, which is adapted to modulate optical energy with signal energy, such as radio frequency (RF) signal energy, propagating from a first group of transceivers of the network to form a vector of optical signals. The optical matrix-vector multiplier (MVM) receives the vector of optical signals, and has a matrix of optical channel weights which are modifiable in accordance with desired parameters to represent at least on parameter of the wireless network. The optical MVM is further adapted to output signals based on the received vector of optical signals and the optical channel weights. The system and method further employs a detector device, adapted to detect the output signals and to provide the output signals as an output vector of signals to a second group of transceivers of the network.
