摘要: A decorative light strand has user-selectable color schemes corresponding to several holidays for year-round use. The light strand has a plurality of lights including at least one commonly-controlled set of color-controllable multi-color LEDs; a decorating selector comprising a switch which provides a plurality of user-selectable settings; and logic coupled to the switch and the plurality of lights to provide different holiday color schemes in response to the user-selectable settings. Preferably, a plurality of commonly-controlled sets of color-controllable multi-color LEDs exist along the strand, where LEDs of each set are interleaved with LEDs of other sets along the light strand. Advantageously, this light strand may be hung permanently and utilized year-round for major holidays and other suitable occasions. In a color-scheme-controllable light strand, the use of such LEDs as described reduces the number of (or eliminates) non-lit bulbs for at least some color schemes, reduces the number of wired lines to the lights, and provides the light strand with a long-life which is especially desirable in a year-round application.

摘要: A ballast (100) includes an inverter (140,144,146) and a protection circuit that prevents excessive lamp-to-earth-ground fault current. The protection circuit includes a transformer (202,204,206,208,210) and an inverter disable circuit (300). The transformer measures a first current going out of one set of ballast output terminals (106,108) and a second current going into another set of ballast output terminals (206,208). In response to a substantial imbalance between the first current and the second current, inverter disable circuit (300) terminates inverter switching. Preferably, protection circuit further includes a restart timer circuit (400) that, following termination of inverter switching in response to a fault condition, prevents the inverter from restarting for a predetermined delay period.

摘要: A lighting apparatus includes a primary power supply, a primary lighting unit, a control unit, a secondary lighting unit, a light sensor, and a back-up power supply. The control unit is connected to the primary power supply, the primary lighting unit, the secondary lighting unit, the light sensor and the back-up power supply. The primary lighting unit includes at least one high-power lamp controlled by the control unit. The secondary lighting unit includes at least one low-power high-intensity light source. The light sensor generates a light signal corresponding to intensity of ambient light. The control unit enables operation of the secondary lighting unit when the primary lighting unit is deactivated during poor ambient light conditions, and further enables supply of power from the back-up power supply to the secondary lighting unit to activate the latter when power failure of the primary power supply occurs.

摘要: The invention relates to an electronic circuit for operating a High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamp, in particular a Ultra High Pressure (UHP) lamp, such as those preferably used in image projectors. The circuit comprises a lamp ballast 110 for offering a controlled lamp current for operating the HID lamp 422 and a brightness sensor 130 for generating and providing a sensor signal which represents the brightness of the light applied by the lamp to the image generator. The lamp ballast 110 controls the lamp current such that the brightness of the light of the lamp remains constant. It is an object of the invention to develop the electronic circuit and the image projector further such that the brightness control is made possible throughout the entire operational life of the lamp 322, and the use of sensors of simple construction, and thus less expensive sensors, is made possible. This object is achieved by means of a filter 140 which high-pass filters the sensor signal before it is supplied as a control signal to the lamp ballast 110, and in particular to a control unit within the lamp ballast.
