    摘要: The present invention relates generally to an improved tree processing system enabling efficient, reliable and accurate processing of harvested trees. The system includes a grabbing head having first grabbing arms and a delimbing head having second grabbing arms. The first and second grabbing arms are mounted on a boom system and can be activated to grab the tree stem of a harvested tree. When grabbed, the boom system can be selectively extended or retracted to effect delimbining of a felled tree. Each of the delimbing head and grabbing head includes saws allowing an operator to selectively activate one or both saws to cut a length of timber.

    摘要: An improved harvester head assembly is provided. The harvester head includes a housing which is rotatable between a horizontal orientation and a vertical orientation. The manifold and valve assembly includes a manifold with a rectangular shape and which is oriented with its long dimension extending in a longitudinal direction. The solenoid valves are spaced from one another in the longitudinal direction.

A log grapple may include opposing arm assemblies and independently positionable drive wheels disposed between the arms. The log grapple may be operable in a grapple mode, in which the arms are in a closed position and the drive wheels are in an open position, and a feed mode, in which the arms and the drive wheels are in closed positions. In feed mode, the first and second drive wheels may be rotated to drive the log through the arms. The log grapple may be further configured to delimb, measure, and/or cut logs in the feed mode. A log grapple may also include a measuring wheel assembly. Optionally, the measuring wheel assembly may include a hydraulic actuator configured to retract the measuring wheel and a gas spring configured to extend the measuring wheel.

    摘要: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for chipping a tree utilizing a helicopter suspended chipping apparatus. The chipping apparatus comprises a frame having a bottom, which is suspendable from a support vehicle and includes a chipping rotor having a length extending along a substantially horizontal axis and a chipping surface. The chipping rotor is rotatably mounted in the frame such that a lowermost portion of the chipping surface is proximate to the bottom of said frame. The chipping apparatus further includes a drive motor operably connected to the chipping rotor for rotating the chipping rotor about the substantially horizontal axis. The chipping apparatus may be lowered onto a tree to be chipped by the helicopter so as to chip the tree proximate to ground level.
