    摘要: Devices and methods associated therewith for facilitating movement, removal and/or installation of components from treatment units (e.g., water treatment units and wastewater treatment units). The treatment unit can take the form of a granular media filter (e.g., upflow filter, downflow filter or bi-flow filter) or a sludge collection basin. One preferred device is one or more floats facilitating safe removal of components of a treatment unit. The float(s) can be operably associated with an air scour system of a water filter to remove the air scour system from a granular media filter bed. The float(s) can be operably associated with a collection grid of a sludge collection container facilitating safe removal of the collection grid from the sludge collection container. Another preferred device is a flexible piping/conduit operably connected to a pressurized air source and an air scour system to assist in removal/installation of the air scour system.

    摘要: A local backwashing apparatus 110 for a filtering system comprises an enclosure 119 having an open lower end, positionable above a surface of filter media 92 supported by a drainage layer 96. The enclosure is connected to a mechanical member (300, FIG. 6A) configured to force the enclosure into the filter media and release the force prior to the lower end of the enclosure contacting the drainage layer. The lower end of the enclosure being brought into contact with the drainage layer through a pressure differential between the interior and exterior of the enclosure. A pneumatic system such as an air pump, is in fluid communication with the upper part 127 of the enclosure and is configured to determine an air pressure therein. A pipe system connects the upper part of the enclosure with the pneumatic system and with a discharge structure 132. A control unit is connected to the pneumatic system. Also disclosed is a method of backwashing a filtering system. The backwashing apparatus may be used to pre-treat water.

    摘要: An apparatus for removing impurities from water and/or wastewater and a method of installing a fluid distribution system in the apparatus. In the most preferred form of the invention, the fluid distribution system is an air scour system for directing air through the filter bed to assist in cleaning of the filter bed to remove impurities trapped in the filter bed during a service run. In the most preferred form, the method of installing the fluid distribution system in the filter bed is performed by imparting a force to the filter bed to permit the fluid distribution system to be installed in the filter bed without removing media. The fluid distribution system is preferably configured to permit the fluid distribution system to be readily installed in the filter bed and at an optimum orientation.

    摘要: A water-processing filter having a high dimensional accuracy and an improved filterability (such as a capability to remove turbidity components) is provided. The water-processing filter comprises (A) a hollow cylindrical filter which comprises (a1) a granular activated carbon having a median particle size of 30 to 80 μm and (a2) a fibrillated fibrous binder. The cylindrical filter (A) has an upstream outer surface having an arithmetical mean deviation of a waviness profile adjusted to not more than 30 μm and an arithmetical mean deviation of a primary profile adjusted to 35 to 45 μm. The cylindrical filter (A) may have a downstream inner surface having an arithmetical mean deviation of a waviness profile of not more than 30 μm and an arithmetical mean deviation of a primary profile of 35 to 45 μm. The cylindrical filter (A) may have a grounded outer surface. In a hollow space of the cylindrical filter (A), (B) a cylindrical filter comprising (b1) a granular activated carbon having a median particle size of 30 to 80 μm and (b2) a granular binder may be disposed.

    摘要: A machine for removing sedimentary material from filter beds of water supply installations. The machine has a chassis running on endless tracks and supporting a displaceable front frame carrying an inclined elevated conveyor arrangement with a plurality of circulated buckets. A rotatable drum with projecting paddles or bars serves to project material in a trough which feeds the buckets of the inclined conveyor arrangement. An inclined plate also carried by the frame serves to skim a layer of material from the bed as the machine advances and the drum picks up the material from the plate. A further conveyor extends transversally of the chassis and receives material from the inclined conveyor for subsequent discharge from the machine.

[Class 46] In a filter having a sand &c. bed a and a spillover wall b to prevent wastage of sand during cleansing by a reverse flow of wash water, the wall b is provided just above the bed a with one or more apertures d adapted to be opened and closed by means of one or more rollers or pads e operated by toggle lever or other mechanism to permit removal of the silt-laden waste water remaining above the bed after the sand has settled. The rollers or pads may be covered with rubber or like material. The impurities may be prevented from settling and washed through the apertures d by the continued application of wash water at a reduced rate, assisted, if desired, by a cross current of water. As shown, rubbercovered pads e of channel form are carried by pivoted arms g and operated by toggle lever mechanism h connected through link and lever mechanism k, l and bevel or screw-gear with a hand wheel i or a small electric motor under push button control. Alternatively, the rod k may be operated by a solenoid. Rollers may be adapted to be rolled over the surface of the wall b. The opening and closing of the apertures may be effected automatically in dependence on the rate of flow of wash water as by connecting the wash water inlet to a lightly-loaded diaphragm or other valve controlling the flow of pressure fluid to and from a cylinder having a piston connected with the pads &c.
