摘要: A filtering apparatus with a Body Force Generating Apparatus (BFGA) facilitates diffusion of objects of interest from a first reservoir to a second reservoir. The BFGA applies a body force per unit mass on objects of interest, such as air molecules, water molecules, dust particles, ions, electrons, and other types of elementary particles or constituent parts within a medium. The force field generated by the BFGA gives rise to a spatially varying potential field having a spatial or temporal gradient that is sufficiently strong at at least one location in space or instant in time such that objects of interest experience a departure from normal statistical behavior within that field. This can be employed to increase the pressure of objects of interest in a second reservoir relative to a first reservoir. A pressure modification apparatus and method can convert thermal energy into useful energy, such as mechanical work or electricity.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a gas-liquid flow separation system configured to separate a fluid stream containing both gas and liquid components into separate gas and liquid streams. The separation of the components permits the collection of data relating to the volume of each stream. In some embodiments, the separation system provides for the subsequent recombination of the streams in a homogeneous mixture for processing by downstream facilities. Also, the present disclosure provides a manifold system configured to receive fluid streams from a plurality of sources, combine the streams into a single blended stream containing both gas and liquid components. Subsequently, the system provides for separation of the gas from the liquid components and optional recombination of the same.

摘要: An inlet assembly for an auxiliary power unit for an aircraft, including a particle separator and a plenum having first and second inlets. A first duct configured to deliver air to an engine of the auxiliary power unit is in fluid communication with an outlet of the plenum. A second duct configured to deliver air to a compartment containing the auxiliary power unit is in fluid communication with the outlet of the plenum. The assembly is selectively configurable between a first configuration where the plenum is in fluid communication with the environment of the aircraft through the second inlet and through the particle separator, and a second configuration where the plenum is in fluid communication with the environment of the aircraft through the first inlet independently of the particle separator. An auxiliary power unit assembly and a method of feeding air to an auxiliary power unit assembly are also discussed.

摘要: An apparatus for separating solid particles from a stream of a mixture of gaseous fluids and solid particles has a separation vessel. A mixture conduit extends vertically into a central section of the separation vessel and defines a discharge opening located within the vessel and tangentially oriented for discharging the stream into an open interior of the vessel and imparting a tangential velocity to the stream. A gas recovery conduit within the separation vessel has an inlet for withdrawing gaseous fluids from within the open interior of the separation vessel at a location below the discharge opening and radially offset from the mixture conduit. An intermediate portion of the gas recovery conduit is located above the inlet within the separation vessel and has a diameter greater than a diameter of the inlet.

摘要: Disclosed are methods, apparatuses, assemblies, devices and systems for removing pollutants from air within a space or an environment. Humidifiers introduce a pollutant trapping material into the air of the space or environment by evaporating the pollutant trapping material, wherein the pollutant trapping material adheres to pollutants in the air being purified. Dehumidifiers remove the pollutant trapping material, along with pollutants adhered thereto, from the air by dehumidifying it. The cooperation of the humidifier(s) and the dehumidifier(s) may be collaborated based on a combination of pollutant concentration level value(s) and relative humidity level value(s) measured in the air.

摘要: The present technology provides an illustrative apparatus for recycling electric arc furnace (EAF) dust and method of use related to the same. The apparatus has a heat controlling region coupled to a separation volume and includes at least one magnet and a cooling region. The heating controlling region operates at a temperature sufficient to transform at least some of the EAF dust into a mixture of gaseous zinc and one or more additional metals. The magnet separates the iron-rich material from the mixture of gaseous zinc and one or more additional metals and the cooling region condenses the gaseous zinc.

摘要: A vane-type separator with pockets for removing solid and liquid particles entrained in a gaseous stream. Vanes are fabricated from a plurality of modular components which may be assembled to form vanes of varying lengths. The vanes include pockets with rounded leading edges to encourage particulate to impinge on the vane and move into the pockets by surface tension and aerodynamic forces. The vane-type separator allows for a higher gas stream velocity before particulate is found downstream of the vane-type separator.
