    摘要: A laying pipe for use in the laying head of a rolling mill is configured for rotation about an axis, with an entry end aligned on that axis to receive a hot rolled product, and with a curved section leading to a delivery end spaced radially from that axis. The curved section defines a guide path configured to form the hot rolled product into a helical formation of rings. The laying pipe comprises a tubular ferrous wall having an interior surface comprising a wear resistant boronized layer against which the hot rolled product is confined for movement along the guide path.

    摘要: A method is disclosed for controlling the speed of a curved rotatably driven laying pipe through which a longitudinally moving product is directed to exit from the delivery end of the pipe as a helical formation of rings. The method comprises determining the maximum and minimum internal radii Rmax, Rmin of the pipe at the location of the maximum radius R of the pipe as measured from its rotational axis; continuously measuring the velocity Vp of the product entering the laying pipe; and, controlling the rotational speed of the laying pipe such that the rotational velocities Vmax, Vmin of the pipe at said maximum and minimum internal radii bracket a range containing the velocity Vp of the product.

    摘要: A process and apparatus for stocking cables and other coilable elements such as, for example, hosepipes, pipes and tubes. A stocking device includes a stocking basket formed by a circular outer wall. An edge of a bottom wall serving as a winding base is disposed against the outer wall. A guide member and a fixed or rotary laying stocking device assist in coiling the element. The laying stocking device angularly leads the element to be coiled from the guide toward the stocking basket. At least one height adjustment mechanism is also provided. The height adjustment mechanism adjusts the height of the laying device in order to insure that there is ample space between a stack of the coilable elements in the stocking basket and the laying device. The height adjustment mechanism may be automatic, manual or self regulating.

    摘要: Wires are coiled by rotating about a main axis a curved laying tube having an upstream end opening generally at the axis and directed axially upstream and a downstream end opening radially offset from the axis and directed generally tangentially and feeding a leading end of the wire into the tube upstream end so that the wire issues from the downstream end of the tube in a curved condition and is laid in a succession of turns on a surface below the downstream end. Passage of a trailing end of the wire through the laying tube is detected and a drum having an inner surface directed toward and centered on the axis at the tube downstream end is closed around the downstream end of the tube to confine the wire inside the drum as passage of the trailing end through the laying tube is detected. The drum is opened from around the downstream end of the tube after passage of the trailing end through the tube and the drum is held open until detection of passage of another trailing end through the tube.

    摘要: A coil of tapered wire for forming coil springs, formed by winding substantially in concentric loops a quench-hardened and tempered tapered wire having a successive arrangement of tapered wire segments each consisting of a thick section, two thin sections and two tapered sections connecting the thin sections to the opposite ends of the thick section, respectively. The tapered wire is subjected to a preforming action immediately before being wound in loops on a winding drum, to form plastic bends in the thick sections and plastic bends of a radius of curvature greater than that of the plastic bends in the thick sections so that the tapered wire is wound in substantially uniform, concentric circular loops on a winding drum. When the tapered wire is unwound from the coil and is subjected to a straightening process of a fixed straightening arrangement of a series of straightener rollers before being coiled in tapered wire coil springs on a coil spring forming mill, the thick sections undergo a straightening action greater than that acts on the thin sections, so that which the tapered wire unwound from the coil of tapered wire is straightened in a substantially straight tapered wire and thereby the tapered wire is coiled in tapered wire coil springs having a correct size and a uniform shape.

    摘要: A double-layer coil for an electric motor is formed of a single continuous conductor with the two layers being wound simultaneously. A first length of conductor is wound about a pulley to form a coil and at the end of that coil but without breaking the conductor another coil is commenced to be wound about a rotating bobbin, with the coil of the first length wound on the pulley being caused to orbit the bobbin at a rate twice the bobbin rotation speed, whereby the conductor coil is unwound from the pulley and rewound on the bobbin at and the same time a further conductor is being wound about the bobbin to form a second coil, thereby forming both layers of the coil simultaneously.

    摘要: A laying pipe configured for rotation about its axis in a rolling mill laying head, comprises a ferrous outer tube having an entry section aligned with its axis, an intermediate section curving away from its axis, and a delivery section having a constant radius measured from its axis. A ferrous inner tube has entry, intermediate and delivery sections respectively lining the entry, intermediate and delivery sections of the outer tube. The inner tube is constrained against movement relative to the outer tube solely by frictional contact with the outer tube. The inner tube is movable incrementally within the outer tube in one direction in response to heating and cooling cycles during rotation of the laying pipe about its axis.
