    摘要: An assembly line for continuously manufacturing fasteners from a rod with a groove for receiving a wire for retaining the fasteners in a strip includes a receiver for receiving the rod. A die press is arranged to receive the rod from the receiver and includes a piercing member for piercing an aperture in each fastener and a cutting member for cutting each fastener from the rod. A tapping member provides ribs to an inner wall of the aperture formed in the fastener by the piercing member. An inspector inspects the internal rib formed into the inner wall of the aperture disposed in the fastener verifying exactness of the aperture and the rib. A wire inserter inserts the wire into the groove forming a strip of connected fasteners. The inserter receives the fasteners sequentially from the inspector after verification of the exactness of the aperture disposed in each fastener.

    摘要: A full-round head nail having an offset head is configured with a gusset formed integrally between an undersurface of the offset head and a superior portion of a shank. The head of the nail is relatively thin, and the shank is positioned radially off center of the round head such that no heel is formed at a point tangential to both the head and the shank. The gusset has a lofted surface tapering radially from a roundness at the zero heel to a taper at the toe. The gusset reinforces the junction of the shank with the head, supports the toe of the head, and distributes the force of a load on the head through a longitudinal axis of the shank, preventing the toe from bending or yielding and prevents the shank from yielding to the stresses of the load applied.

    摘要: A front end of a loop of a wire fed out to a nose (6) by a binding wire feeding mechanism (1) is pinched by a clamp plate (28) of a binding wire clamping apparatus (25) and the wire is pulled back by driving to rotate reversely a feeding motor (13) of the binding wire feeding mechanism (1). When the wire is brought into close contact with a reinforcing bar (S) and a load of the feeding motor is increased to thereby increase a drive current by a constant amount, a control apparatus stops the feeding motor. Thereafter, the binding wire clamping apparatus (25) is rotated to twist the binding wire to bind the reinforcing bar. Since the wire is pulled back and a length of the wire is automatically adjusted in accordance with a diameter of the reinforcing bar, a state of finishing to bind the reinforcing bar is made to be uniform and also an amount of consuming the wire is reduced.

    摘要: A clamping jaw for gripping wire stock used in nail production machines includes a quick change system that allows efficient replacement of a removable tool insert. The clamping jaw includes a main body that is partially split so as to define a gap between first and second opposing clamping fingers having a recess portion there between for receiving and retaining the insert. The main body includes a top surface, a bottom surface, a central bore that extends between the first and second surfaces, and a countersunk cavity formed in the bottom surface. A tapered projection formed from the first and second clamping fingers extends into the countersunk cavity. A clamping member, having a tapered recess for receiving the projection, is positioned in the countersunk cavity. A fastener is tightened to draw the clamping member onto the projection to close the clamping fingers in order to grip the insert.

    摘要: The object of the invention is to make it possible to fill connecting fasteners of various thicknesses in a single kind of fastener magazine. A connecting fastener is such that the thickness of a connecting band (13a, 13b) is increased or decreased according to the stem diameter of a screw (12a, 12b), whereby the width of the connecting fastener (11a, 11b) as seen in the direction of travel thereof is made constant, and the connecting band (13a, 13b) is brought into engagement with a longitudinal guide groove (5a) formed in the fastener passageway of the fastener magazine (5) of a screw fastening machine. This makes it possible to stably hold the connecting fasteners (11a, 11b) of various stem diameters at a given height, thus improving the versatility of the fastener magazine.

The steel pin has a substantially cylindrical shank, and a substantially sharp point which extends from one end of the substantially cylindrical shank, which conforms substantially to a tangent or secant ogive except for a substantially spherical tip having a radius in the range of approximately 0.015 inch (approximately 3.75 millimeters) to approximately 0.03 inch (approximately 7.5 millimeters), which has substantially true concentricity, which has surface-texture irregularities with a roughness-height index value not greater than approximately 30 microinches (approximately 0.76 micrometers), and which appears to be substantially free of other surface imperfections when viewed under 60.times. magnification. Optimally, the ogive is a tangent ogive with an ogive radius approximately ten times the shank diameter and with an ogive length approximately twice the shank diameter, and the tip radius is approximately 0.1 times the shank diameter. The steel pin is made by deforming a length of steel wire, as by forging or swaging, so as to form the steel pin.

    摘要: A machine makes nails having a star-shaped transverse cross-section by sequentially feeding conventional nails into a form roller station defined by a plurality of form rollers that are radially arrayed with respect to a centerline of the nails. Circumferentially spaced notches formed about the periphery of each form roller engage the heads of the conventional nails as the form rollers rotate and pull the nails into forming relation with the form rollers. The notches also prevent formation of the nail heads. A plurality of circumferentially spaced concavities formed in the form rollers prevents forming of the work-hardened points of the nails. The nails are sequentially delivered from a bowl feeder to an indexer that inverts the nails. A pair of rotatably mounted augers transfer the nails from the indexer to a nail-gripping device that holds each nail until its head is engaged by the nail-engaging notch in each of the form rollers. The form rollers are rotated by a gear train that begins with a ring gear rotated by a motor, and the gear train enables adjustment of the rotational phase of the form rollers so that they may be maintained in rotational phase with one another.

    摘要: A spike harrow tooth is fabricated by cold forming a metal blank which is provided from appropriate bar stock, the blank having a length for a single harrow tooth. The blank is placed in a first press, oriented with opposite edges of the square configuration aligned in the direction of press closing and opening. The first press is equipped with dies for displacing the metal at one end of the blank, by flattening the opposite edges to thereby displace the metal crosswise and form an enlarged head. Simultaneously, metal is displaced by dies in the first press from opposite side edges of the blank at the other end of the blank for partially forming a point with outwardly bulging excess portions. The partially formed blank then is placed in a second press equipped with dies for removing the outwardly bulging excess portions into waste chips.
