Abstract:
A nail-forming apparatus and method to rapidly form nails typically with circular heads is provided. One aspect relates to a sequential wire piece positioner configured for sequentially positioning wire pieces respectively adjacent a plurality of nail head formers. The wire piece positioner may include several carriages related to moving and forming the wire pieces.

Abstract:
A method of operating a progressive die wherein the progressive die acts on a work piece having an elongated body with a blank at one end. The work piece is supported by a bandolier which is also formed in the progressive die. The progressive die acts on each blank.
Abstract:
A nail manufacturing machine includes two cutting tools movable to cut a wire into a nail blank, a sorting member having a channel for receiving the nail blank, an indexing wheel disposed below the sorting member and having a number of nail blank holding grooves formed in the outer peripheral portion for stably and horizontally supporting the nail blank without complicated nail blank holders and retaining members and for allowing the nail blank to be effectively hammered or machined by a nail machining tool, and a driving device includes a spindle for moving the tool member to machine the nail blank, and for moving the cutting tools to cut the wire into the nail blank.
Abstract:
An angled strips of brads with a plurality of cohered brads having a shank with a tip portion. A head portion of at least some of the plurality of brads having a bulge protruding forwardly from the leading side thereof and extending at least partially into the trailing side of the head portion of an adjacent brad. An upper leading side portion of the head portions of the plurality of brads offset rearwardly of the leading side of the shank, whereby interlocking of adjacent head portions of the angled strip of brads is reduced. The rearwardly biased head portion is formed preferably with a rearwardly sloped riser portion of a header punch.
Abstract:
An apparatus for making elongated headed workpieces having a conveyor device for successively transporting elongated workpieces such as wire pieces transversely to their longitudinal axes from one treatment station into at least one treatment station and including a guided conveyor belt assembly to which the workpieces may be clamped by their circumferential surfaces. Two sections, running together and side by side, of two conveyor belts are guided in such a manner between the stations that they remain in immovable contact on both sides with the transported workpieces. At least one of the two conveyor belts is a toothed belt in which the gaps between the teeth take up the workpieces singly.
Abstract:
A headed work blank feeding apparatus is provided including a movable track extension cover at a discharge end of a pair of spaced feed rails. The feed rails are located in adjacent upstream relation to a work station entrance. A height adjustment device serves to selectively establish clearance between a bottom guide face of the extension cover and the feed rails at their discharge end upstream of the work station entrance. Air ejection means on the track extension cover is in overlying relation to the entrance of the work station for positively seating each headed work blank discharged from the feed rails onto work blank supporting surfaces at the entrance of the work station.
Abstract:
An apparatus for transferring the blanks of knitting needles for knitting machines in which pairs of clamping jaws are mounted at uniformly spaced locations on a conveyor. The jaws are mounted so that the contact surfaces thereof extend parallel to the direction of progress, whereby they define a permanent base surface for the needle blanks being clamped.
