摘要： A safety guard is configured to extend down from a body portion of a vehicle for engaging animate and inanimate objects in order to prevent the objects from going under the vehicle. A detection system is also provided, including a plurality of sensors configured to sense an impact experienced by the safety guard and a control unit for analyzing the impact. The analysis can result in various actions being taken, including issuance of an impact warning, an evaluation on the cause of the impact, an assessment on any operator negligence associated with the impact and/or a notification regarding a need to replace the safety guard due to the impact.

摘要： An emergency response barrier is shown and described, the barrier having a cab and engine for propelling the barrier; a frame with reinforcing bracing; two axles coupled to the frame with wheels attached thereto; wherein the frame is covered with a substantially planar skin that extends along the right and left sides of the frame, from a top of the frame down to a lower edge and covers a majority of the wheels on each side of the barrier; an impact attenuator coupling on the frame, having a vertical pin received in a bore disposed on an impact attenuator, and configured for rotation about the vertical axis of the pin; and a hydraulic cylinder connected between the frame and the impact attenuator, wherein retraction and extension of the hydraulic cylinder moves the impact attenuator through an arc of rotation about the vertical pin.

摘要： Vertical brackets extend downwardly from a trailer or semi-trailer frame to a transverse tubular bar to form an underride guard. The transverse tubular bar includes a top, a bottom, a rear impact side and a forward side and extends beyond the vertical brackets to define two end portions. The top and bottom have slits therethrough on the outer half of the end portions extending from inwardly of the rear impact side toward the forward side at an angle toward the vertical brackets. The slits extend toward the vertical brackets at an angle at least 45° through a portion of their length and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle through a second portion. The forward side includes two converging surfaces from the top and bottom. The slits extend from the top and bottom no more than half way to the convergence of the two surfaces.

摘要： According to some aspects of the invention, a rear impact guard is configured to be coupled to a rear end of a vehicle. The rear impact guard includes first and second bumper support members configured to be coupled to first and second base rails of the vehicle. The first and second bumper support members are spaced from one another along a width of the vehicle. A horizontal bumper is mounted to lower ends of the first and second bumper support members. First and second angled support members are coupled at first ends to the first and second bumper support members, and coupled at second ends to the first and second base rails forwardly of the first and second bumper support members and forming a substantially hollow triangular member. First and second braces are positioned within the first and second base rails and coupled thereto. At least a portion of each of the first and second braces is located above the second ends of the first and second angled supports.

摘要： A trailer includes front and rear ends spaced in a longitudinal direction to define a cargo area. A frame includes a rear bolster extending in a transverse direction across the rear end below a bottom rear edge of the cargo area.
