摘要: A method is described for selecting a treatment additive for aqueous systems, in which crystal habit modification properties are prioritized; for aqueously preparing a substantially poly-maleic additive through in-situ formation of maleic acid copolymer so that mono-carboxylic acids, non-ionic functional groups, and terminal hydroxyl groups are also formed during polymerization; and for applying such additives for treatment of aqueous systems. Treatment agents resulting from these processes are also described.

摘要: A process for producing a multivalent cation containing copolymer, containing: contacting a multivalent cation containing ethylenically unsaturated acid and at least one comonomer to produce a monomer mixture comprising the multivalent cation containing ethylenically unsaturated acid present in an amount in the range of from about 5% to about 65% by weight; and contacting the monomer mixture with a redox initiator comprising a reducing compound and an oxidising compound and contacting the monomer mixture with a thermal initiator to cause the multivalent cation containing ethylenically unsaturated acid and the at least one comonomer to react to produce the multivalent cation containing copolymer, wherein the thermal initiator is used in the range 100 to 5000 ppm.

摘要: A polymer having an acid number greater than 100. The polymer has a valent metal ion which is bonded to at least one reactive group. The characteristics of the polymer include, conductivities of 4 S/cm to 200 S/cm or more, depending upon the concentration and nature of the metal bound. The conductivity proportional to the amount of metal bound, the ability of the Polymer to bind metals having a +1, +2, +3, +4, or +5 valence charge to the polymer, and the ability to bind two or more different metals to separate binding sites on the polymer.

摘要: The invention provides a class of wedge-type block copolymers having a plurality of chemically different blocks, at least a portion of which incorporates a wedge group-containing block providing useful properties. For example, use of one or more wedge group-containing blocks in some block copolymers of the invention significantly inhibits chain entanglement and, thus, the present block copolymers materials provide a class of polymer materials capable of efficient molecular self-assembly to generate a range of structures, such as periodic nanostructures and microstructures. Materials of the present invention include copolymers having one or more wedge group-containing blocks, and optionally for some applications copolymers also incorporating one or more polymer side group-containing blocks. The present invention also provides useful methods of making and using wedge-type block copolymers.

摘要: The present invention provides a thermoplastic acrylic resin of a copolymer comprising 10 to 70% by weight of a repeating unit derived from the particular methacrylate monomer, 5 to 40% by weight of a repeating unit derived from the particular vinyl aromatic monomer, and 20 to 50% by weight of a repeating unit of the particular cyclic acid anhydride, characterized in that a molar ratio (B/A) is within the range of more than 1 to not more than 10, wherein (A) is a content of the repeating unit of the vinyl aromatic monomer and (B) is a content of the repeating unit of the cyclic acid anhydride, and the total amount of remaining monomers to 100 parts by weight of the copolymer is not more than 0.5 part by weight.

摘要: Biodegradable anionic polymers are disclosed which include recurring polymeric subunits preferably made up of dicarboxylic monomers such as maleic anhydride, itaconic anhydride or citraconic anhydride. Free radical polymerization is used in the synthesis of the polymers. The polymers may be complexed with ions and/or mixed with fertilizers or seeds to yield agriculturally useful compositions. The preferred products of the invention may be applied foliarly or to the earth adjacent growing plants in order to enhance nutrient uptake by the plants.
