A system and method for distributing color-coded dilution ratios of cleaning concentrates at different dilution ratios and flow rates. The system mixes a concentrated cleaning composition with different quantities of water to produce diluted concentrates. A plurality of separate dyes or scented dyes are added to the diluted concentrates, with each color of dye correlating to a unique diluted concentrate. This provides a visual indication of the dilution ratio of the diluted concentrate. A plurality of metering devices selectively dispense the dyed diluted concentrates at different dilution ratios and at multiple flow rates. The metering devices are labeled with identification markings, indicating dilution ratios and flow rates. The dilution ratio and the flow rate are selected based on the type of cleaning that is required, and the type of dispensing means used for cleaning. A plurality of lines carry the concentrated cleaning composition, water, dyes, and dyed diluted concentrate.

Method of imprinting on a soap bar or soap sheet which includes steps of providing printed matter on the surface of the soap and isolating the surface from water contact, such that the printed matter is substantially water-insoluble to provide a cost effective soap bar or soap sheet having printed matter on a surface thereon. The surface is protected by a protective layer which is substantially water-insoluble. The protective layer can be a varnish layer printed on transfer paper and affixed to the soap as a label. The printing color is durable in water or other predetermined diluents and in water-soap solution.

This invention relates to a dual composition bar and extrusion nozzle therefore. The bar is formed of two different materials, preferably of separate colors, and has substantially sinusoidal upper and lower surfaces with a tongue and groove interlock therebetween. The extrusion nozzle utilizes two dies, the first of which has two die portions separated by a die element for forming a tongue and groove interlock between the two materials. The die element does not extend to the second die wherein the convoluted die portions squeeze the two materials together enhancing the interlock.

Translucent soap cakes, which preferably are transparent, are made from mixed tallow and coconut oil soaps (or equivalents), lanolin soap and/or lanolin fatty acids and/or lanolin and/or other suitable derivative(s) thereof, and mixtures thereof, and water. Soap cakes or tablets of improved translucency (transparency) result when the lanolin soap, lanolin fatty acid, lanolin or suitable derivative thereof, or any mixture thereof is mixed at elevated temperature with substantially all of other soap cake components, except perfume (and possibly some other relatively minor constituents), and the resulting mixture is partially dried at elevated temperature, worked, extruded, cut into blanks and pressed to shape. The translucent soap cakes resulting, which may preferably be superfatted and contain a suitable antibacterial component, lather well, are of stable translucency on storage and are desirably mild to the skin. Translucency of the product may be further improved when there is also present in the soap cake formula a soap crystallization inhibiting polyol of 3 to 6 carbon atoms and 2 to 6 hydroxyl groups, such as glycerol or sorbitol.Also described are translucent soap-synthetic detergent cakes, variegated and at least partially translucent soap cakes and soap-syndet tablets, and pearlescent and at least partially translucent such products. Improved manufacturing processes are disclosed and an improved method for measuring product translucency is described.

Special locations for color introduction are provided and a unique "carrara" marble effect is produced in the bar.

[Also in Division C5] Soap having specks, streaks or striations of one or more colours is made by feeding soap of a basic colour in milled form to a screw 11, passing the soap through a multi-orificed die-plate 14 to form strands, cutting the strands into lengths by means of a knife 18, adding one or more colouring agents to the strand lengths within a vacuum chamber 16 and extruding the lengths through an orifice 26 by means of a screw 21. As shown, a single colouring agent is supplied from a chamber 21a via a needle valve 23 and a non- corrosive, e.g. stainless steel, tube 22. Chamber 21a is connected via conduit 31 to the vacuum source for chamber 16. Dieplate 14 is backed by a plate 15 having larger orifices and both plates are carried by a ring 19 pivotable to facilitate cleaning. Knife 18 is directly connected to the shaft of screw 11. Barrels 12 and 25 are provided with fins 28 and jackets 29 within which cooling liquid may circulate. Preferably nozzle 26 has a trimming action and shaves, e.g., a 1 / 32 - 1 / 16 inch thick surface layer, off the extrudate. In addition to the colouring agent, an emollient and/or a bacteriostat may be added via tube 22. If such a mixture is of a pasty nature, valve 23 may be replaced by a pump. Detailed examples are given in which the production of soaps having blue streaks on white and blue streaks on blue are described.
