    摘要: An apparatus is contemplated for creating a structure which simultaneously serves as both a building element and a photovoltaic power source. Components of the invention interface with modules which comprise photovoltaic solar panels. When used collectively, these modules are contemplated as comprising a replacement for a roof or other building component. When the present invention is used, a roof or other building component can be created without the need for a separate underlayment, and without the need for tiles or another outer waterproofing layer. This setup results in power generation, cost savings, and environmental advantages. Additionally, embodiments of the invention comprise fixed stop elements which ensure correct placement of modules on a frame assembly. The invention could also include other elements, including water gutters, grab steps which facilitate access, and specially positioned border covers to protect and aesthetically cover wired regions of solar modules.

The main board includes an upper touch fastener and a lower touch fastener. The lower touch fastener of the main board engages an upper touch fastener provided on the support frame to fix the main board to the support frame. The upper touch fastener of the main board engages a lower touch fastener provided on the bonding strap to have the joint between the main boards sealed by the bonding strap. The main board includes upper and lower coconut fiber boards, an adhesive plastic film interposed between the two fiber boards for bonding the two fiber boards together, and a main board edge bonding strap fixing exposed edges of the two fiber boards and the film.

    摘要: A glazing panel system is provided using retention clips formed of folded sheet metal having a top flanges for engaging and retaining a pair of glazing panel ends against uplift forces generated by high velocity winds flowing across the glazing panels. The preferred one piece retention clip has a two ply central web which is formed on the retention clip to be positioned at a seam between adjacent glazing panels and these plies may be welded together to increase the strength of the central web. This top flange is strengthened to resist bending of its right or left flange section by raised portions extending normal to the fold lines that join the respective top flange sections to the top of the central web. A base flange, preferably with left and right flange sections, is bent from the sheet metal blank. The illustrated base flange may have a flange section with raised portions stamped in the sheet metal blank to a height equal to fastener heads used to secure the other flange section to an underlying support. The preferred method of making the retention clip is to fold a blank of sheet metal to bend the blank at the fold lines to form a two ply top flange, a two ply central web and a base flange. The preferred retention clip also is formed with spot welds to join the two plies of the central web and with struck or raised portions such as ribs in the top flange to strengthen the clip against deformation. In another embodiment, a pair of separate retention clip halves are each formed with upstanding central webs to be positioned in the seam of a pair of adjacent ends of glazing panels. Preferably, a progressive die of a stamping press is used to stamp apertures in the metal blank, to form upstruck ribs in the top flange and to bend the flat sheet blank into the shape of the retention clip. The preferred retention clip is made of stainless steel which is stronger than the usual metal used for retention clips and which is resistant to galvanic corrosion when attached to an aluminum support.

    摘要: A high performance light transmissive glazing panel system is provided such as for overhead roof constructions which has a wind load resistance on the order of 330 psf. The glazing panels are supported on a framework of purlins and rafters and include upstanding seam flanges for connecting adjacent panels together with a batten joining connector. Retention clips are secured to the purlins with each having a central web extending between the seam flanges and elongated top flanges which abut the tops of the seam flanges over a distance that is equal to or greater than the transverse width of the purlin for improved holding power. The preferred clip is an integral extrusion and can take on a variety of forms in accordance with the invention. In each form, the clip top flange extends continuously from one side of the web to the other so as to be resistant to being bent upward on either side of the web. The clip can be extruded with thickened portions to increase its moment of inertia and resistance to bending for improved holding power and rigidity of the glazing panel system. In addition, the base of the clip can be integral with the supporting structure therebelow to reduce the need for distinct support members of the panel supporting framework.
