    摘要: Energy storage and conversion systems are, formed when tightly integrated components including thermochemical storage subsystem with a concentration cell to provide very high capacity and high energy density systems. Systems taught here include the unique combination of a thermochemical energy storage module in close thermal communication with a direct energy converter in the form of a concentration cell. A closed-loop thermochemical module receives heat input at a receiving port to drive a reversible chemical reaction. The end-to-end system achieves an ‘on-demand’ functionality because the reagents of said chemical reaction may be safely stored for long periods of time without detrimental effect. When these reagents are again reunited, they produce heat that may be transmitted to the direct energy converter arranged to convert so received heat directly into an electric output suitable for doing work on an external system. Heat from the storage system drives a working fluid of the concentration cell type direct converter to ionize it. Electrons separated from atoms or molecules of the gas at a very special membrane arranged to efficiently facilitate ion migration form an electrical current that is operable for doing work when applied to an external load. Upon recombination with the ions the working fluid is restored to its original state and becomes available for another cycle. Thus, the direct energy converter or concentration cell is also a closed-loop system.

    摘要: Disclosed is a solar water-heating-and-cooling system (20) that included a collector array panel (32, 36) having thermosyphon coaxial heating/cooling tubes (52). The disclosed system (20) avoids damaging the collector array panel (32, 36) by filling the tubes (52): 1. only when environmental conditions ensure that damage won't occur,—and/or 2. using a filling method that ensures that damage won't occur. Thermosyphon coaxial heating/cooling tubes (52) disclosed herein may be open both at their upper and lower ends. Tubes (52) that are open at their, lower end enables capturing radiative cooling of liquid present within the tubes (52). A cold water storage tank (46) and cold radiator array (48) included in the water-heating-and-cooling system (20) permits preserving and using the radiative 'cooling. Also disclosed are coaxial tubes (104, 106) that enable simpler and easier installation of the system (20), and also provide a less architecturally intrusive system (20).

    摘要: A roofing, cladding, or siding apparatus comprises a roofing, cladding, or siding module and at least one clip. The module comprises an underlapping region and an exposed region. The underlapping region is adapted to be substantially covered by the exposed region of an adjacent overlapping module when installed on a building surface. A projection extends from the exposed region to provide a bearing surface facing the under surface of the exposed region. The clip or clips is attachable to the underlapping region to provide a tongue adapted to be received between the bearing surface and the under surface of the exposed region of an adjacent overlapping module when installed on a building surface.
