    摘要: Electrochemical impedance may be used for accurate and real-time tracking and control of fluid delivery from fluid-filled chambers, such as from drug delivery devices. At least two measurement electrodes may be placed within the chamber in contact with the fluid to be sensed. Application of a small alternating current using these electrodes through the fluid/drug may allow measurement of electrochemical impedance. Volumetric changes of the compressible chamber due to movement of at least one surface within the compressible chamber (such as an actuating bellows or flexible diaphragm), may induce changes in the measured electrochemical impedance. Measuring these changes may allow for tracking of ejected liquid volumes from the compressible chamber. By taking the time-derivative of this signal, the rate of volume change can be tracked and therefore the rate of ejected fluid (flow rate) can be deduced.

    摘要: An ultrasonic sensor, including methods of using and installing same, the sensor having a pair of ultrasound transducers adapted to be inserted in, and being able to perform at, a single site of introduction into a duct. The ultrasonic sensor measures a forward ultrasonic path transit time and a second reverse ultrasonic path transit time of ultrasound signals propagating in a fluid, the arrangement being such that a comparison of the signal associated with ultrasound travel in one direction with the signal associated with ultrasound travel in the opposite direction enables the flow rate of the fluid in the duct to be determined. The sensor may utilize a reflecting surface on the duct and a reflective surface of an ultrasonic sensor end cap to provide forward and reverse ultrasonic W-shaped paths. In addition, the ultrasonic sensor may be used to measure the temperature, viscosity, and cavitation effects of a fluid.

    摘要: A counting apparatus which is designed to be placed in parallel to a fluid flow line has a differential pressure switch which is placed across an orifice positioned within the fluid flow line. A counting mechanism is associated with the differential pressure switch to register a count when signaled by the differential pressure switch. The differential pressure switch is operable to react to the difference in pressure across the orifice to signal the counter to register a count. The orifice can be a fixed or a variable orifice. In another embodiment of the invention, a fixed or variable orifice is placed within the diaphragm of a diaphragm type differential pressure switch to adapt the differential pressure switch to be placed in series with the fluid flow line rather than in parallel to it.

    摘要: A measuring apparatus of a volume of a fluid injected from an injection valve. A fluid having a volume V is injected from an injection valve into an injection chamber containing a fluid, same kind as that of the injected fluid, and having a predetermined pressure and volume. A back pressure chamber is formed separately in the injection chamber with a parting plate having an effective under-pressure area A and a bellow sealed and connected, at one end thereof, to the parting plate. In the back pressure chamber a non-contact displacement sensor having a thermal compensation device is disposed with a clearance from the parting plate and the bellow and the back pressure chamber is filled with another fluid having same pressure as that of fluid in the injection chamber. By the injection of the fluid into the injection chamber, the parting plate moves toward the non-contact displacement sensor by a distance S which is equal to V/A. Distance S is detected by the non-contact displacement sensor. So the volume (V=AxS) of the fluid injected from the injection valve is measured easily and precisely without being affected by temperature variation.
