    摘要: A method and arrangement are disclosed for measuring a flow rate of optically non-homogeneous material in a process pipe. The non-homogeneous material can be illuminated through a window. Images are taken with a camera, through a window, of illuminated non-homogeneous material. Correlation between temporally successive images determines travel performed by the non-homogeneous material in the process pipe between capture of temporally successive images. Velocity of the non-homogeneous material is determined by the time difference between the successive images and the travel.

A receiver generates a plurality of signals related to reflections from particles in a region being monitored. Concomitant use of the same receivers allows depth measurement.

    摘要: The instant invention relates to an apparatus for measuring a powder mass flow in a powder/gas mixture during the conveyance thereof through a feed pipe, the apparatus comprising a velocity measuring device for the powder/gas mixture, a mass measuring device for the powder mass per volume unit, and a calculating device to calculate the powder mass flow based on the velocity measured, the powder mass per volume unit measured, and the dimensions of the feed pipe. The mass measuring device comprises a microwave resonator and means for sensing the resonant frequency and/or the microwave amplitude of the microwave resonator. The microwave resonator is embodied by a coil which is applied on the outside of the feed pipe. The invention likewise proposes a method of measuring the powder mass flow in a feed pipe wherein measuring of the powder mass per volume unit involves establishing a reference resonance of a known powder mass flow, adjusting two measuring frequencies at either side of the reference resonance, measuring the resonator voltage at the adjusted measuring frequencies and forming the difference thereof for a powder mass flow to be measured, and determining the displacement of the resonant frequency based on the voltage differential.

    摘要: An aerodynamic particle size measuring device includes a laser energy source and beam splitting, shaping and polarizing optics for forming two parallel, peripherally overlapping beams. The beams are caused to intersect a gas stream perpendicular to the direction of gas flow, thus to form a measuring volume at the intersection of the beams and flow. Single particles are carried through the measuring volume with the gas flow, each particle scattering and extinguishing light according to the beam profile, as predetermined by the degree of beam overlap and the Gaussian intensity distribution of each beam. A photodetector, responsive either to scattered light or light extinction, generates a time-dependent voltage profile that tends to replicate the intensity profile. The resulting electrical signal is processed to determine an amplitude, set a threshold for minimally acceptable amplitudes, and to derive two negative-going zero crossings for an unambiguous time/velocity determination. Logic circuitry employs the threshold in combination with the zero crossings to reject velocity readings based on single trigger or coincidence events.

    摘要: A period of a correlation signal from a laser Doppler velocimeter is calculated from crossing points at which a correlation function crosses over a threshold level by clipping and digitizing a Doppler burst signal, thereby enabling an accurate and real time measurement to be made of a flow velocity, even in low SNR Doppler signals. Smoothing the waveform of a correlation signal further improves measurement accuracy. When the threshold level is set to be the 1/2 value of the autocorrelation function at .tau.=0, a crossing point is precisely detected even in an uneven correlation function or small amplitude of the crosscorrelation function, thus further increasing measurement accuracy.
