In an example, the first transistor is a drain-extended NMOS device and the second transistor is a drain-extended PMOS device.

    摘要: A constant voltage generator circuit includes a first amplifier circuit that drives a transistor controlling an output current based on a reference voltage; a second amplifier circuit that drives the transistor based on the reference voltage from the power source; a protection circuit that limit an output current flowing through the load from the transistor; and a control circuit that controls operation of the second amplifier circuit. The control circuit controls the second amplifier circuit to operate or not to operate based on a relationship between the output current and predetermined first or second threshold. The second amplifier circuit further includes a first operation voltage potential fixing circuit that fixes an operation voltage potential of an internal node of the second amplifier circuit during non-operation thereof.

    摘要: A power supply semiconductor IC includes: an output transistor connected between a voltage-input terminal and a voltage-output terminal; a control circuit that controls the output transistor based on a feedback voltage of an output voltage; a current-limit circuit that limits an output current of the output transistor such that the output current is not equal to or greater than a current limit; a first transistor constituting a current-mirror circuit with the output transistor; a short-circuit-fault detection circuit that detects a short circuit of the voltage-output terminal based on a voltage across a resistor connected in series to the first transistor; and a first output terminal that outputs a detection result of the short-circuit-fault detection circuit. The current limit is within a detection range of the short-circuit-fault detection circuit. The short-circuit-fault detection circuit detects a short circuit of the voltage-output terminal even while the current limit circuit limits the output current.

    摘要: Disclosed is a power supply that automatically switches between a voltage regulation mode and an over current protection mode, as needed. The power supply includes a voltage regulator that generates a first control voltage for applying to the control terminal of a pass transistor during a voltage regulation mode to maintain an output voltage at a desired voltage level. The power supply includes a current limiter that generates a second control voltage for applying to the control terminal of the pass transistor during an over current protection mode to prevent an output current from rising above a maximum output current limit. The power supply includes additional circuitry that detects when over current protection is required and automatically switches the control voltage applied to the control terminal from the first control voltage to the second control voltage or vice versa, as necessary. Also disclosed is an associated power supply method.

    摘要: The present invention provides an oscillator circuit and a semiconductor integrated circuit, which can suppress the upper limit of the frequency of a clock signal due to an error of the constant current circuit. The oscillator circuit of the present invention includes a constant current circuit, an oscillator, and a current limiting circuit. The constant current circuit generates a first output current according to a supply voltage. The current limiting circuit receives the first output current and generates a second output current, and establishes an upper limit for the second output current when the supply voltage drops below a lower limit of a guaranteed operational range of the constant current circuit. The oscillator generates a clock signal according to the second output current. By establishing the upper limit for the second output current, the upper limit of the frequency of the clock signal can be suppressed.
