摘要： A system for inserting and removing a video disc into and from a player without the need for removing the video disc from its protective cover during said insertion and removal is disclosed. The system includes a clamping device built into the player for protruding into a protective cover during its insertion into the player. The clamping device precludes a removal of the enclosed video disc from the player during the subsequent cover withdrawal. The video disc is transferred to the player turntable when the lid of the player is closed. After playback, the lid is opened and an empty cover is inserted into the player. During the insertion of the empty cover, the video disc is automatically returned to the cover. The withdrawal of the cover after its full insertion into the player, removes the enclosed video disc.

摘要： An optical disk drive apparatus includes a tray into which an optical disk or a cartridge housing therein an optical disk may be inserted. The tray is movable first in a horizontal direction and then in a vertical direction. A cone arm having a cone disk rotatably supported at its distal end is provided and the proximal end is fixedly supported near the entrance of the apparatus where an insertion slot for inserting an optical disk or cartridge is located. The cone arm is flexible and elongated in shape and has its intermediate portion operatively coupled to a bracket fixedly mounted on the tray, so that as the tray moves horizontally and then vertically, the cone arm is automatically deflected to bring the cone disk in engagement with the optical disk, thereby causing the optical disk properly mounted on a spindle motor. Further, an oil damper is interconnected with both a loading/ejecting arm and a shutter opening and closing member.

摘要： Apparatus for loading and precisely positioning a magnetic disc in a drive housing is provided including a spring biased stop member for receiving the interior edge of the magnetic disc and a pivotal cover flap for directing insertion of the disc interiorly of the drive housing. The cover flap is provided with a lock spring element which presses against the outer edge of the magnetic disc and pushes it against the biased stop. The stop member is formed with a locating projection and the cover flap is formed with beveled guide surfaces to precisely orient the disc within the drive housing. Displacement of the stop member is limited by cooperating abutment means, so that precise operating position of the disc in the drive housing is afforded. As the cover flap is closed, a cam member formed on the cover flap activates a clamping member simultaneous with the final positioning of the disc in the drive housing to effect a frictional connection between the magnetic disc and a rotatable drive device.

摘要： A gripping or picker device, particularly for a jacketed magnetic disk or diskette, comprising a pair of arms extending along each other and fixed with respect to a common support and having outwardly diverging cam surfaces on their distal ends to provide a throat into which an article may be thrust. One of the arms has a flat leaf spring portion for moving the arms together, and the arms have plane substantially parallel facing surfaces connected with said cam surfaces for gripping the article frictionally when the article is thrust between the arms. One of the cam surfaces extends farther toward the common support than the other so that it faces the plane support surface of the other arm, and one of the arms has a stop portion abutting the other arm to limit the approaching movement of the arms toward each other to a distance which is equal to or greater than the thickness of the article to be gripped. A portion of one of the plane surfaces which is opposite the cam surface of the other arm engages the diskette as the picker device is drawn off of the diskette to provide a frictional effect thereon so that the arms do not squeeze the article out from between the arms.
