    摘要: Provided is a holographic data storage system characterized by including: a first polarizing beam splitter (PBS), wherein at least either of a first lens module and a second lens module transmits P-polarized light and reflects S-polarized light; a relay lens collecting light passing through the first PBS; a mirror reflecting the light collected through the relay lens back to the relay lens; and a quarter wave plate located between a second PBS beam splitter and the relay lens, converting transmitted linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light, and converting the circularly polarized light into linearly polarized light. By reducing the volume of the relay lens, it is possible to decrease the size of the holographic data storage system, and by decreasing the number of lenses, it is possible to lower manufacturing costs.

    摘要: A conventional broadband quarter-wave plate has not completely solved the wavelength dependence and has different efficiencies of shifting the phase by 90° depending on the wavelengths, and therefore has a problem that it cannot fulfill the strict specifications on the optical characteristics which are demanded of a wave plate from a viewpoint of the optical efficiency and the like in an optical pickup device compatible with a plurality of different wavelengths. To provide a wave plate which completely functions as a quarter-wave plate with respect to a plurality of different wavelengths and an optical pickup using that wave plate to solve the problem, the present invention provides a laminated wave plate, wherein a wave plate with a phase difference α and a wave plate with a phase difference β with respect to monochromatic light with a wavelength λ are laminated in such a way that directions of optical axes of said plates intersect each other, so that the laminated wave plate, as a whole, functions as a quarter-wave plate, and which is characterized in that a relationship between the α and the β satisfies the following formulas: (3/2)×π≠α−2×π×([[n]]m−1) π≠β−2×π×(n−1),wherein: each of m and n is a positive integer.

    摘要: It is possible to provide a new information recording/reproduction method and a device which can realize a small-size large-capacity memory having a characteristic equivalent to or higher than a hologram memory. The optical information recording/reproduction device includes: recording light generator (51) which generates a recording light (55) in a polarization state having two mutually orthogonal polarization components with a phase difference at an arbitrary polarization base; reproduction light generator (61) which generates a reproduction light (65) in a polarization state having only a single polarization component at a arbitrary polarization basis; recording medium (71) in which optical information is recorded by recording light (55) and the recorded optical information is reproduced by reproduction light; and optical information detector (polarimeter 81) which retrieves information light (72) after being applied to recording medium (71) and detects the light as optical information. An objective lens plate (18) is attached in a state wherein a lower face (1806) thereof contacts closely with an upper face (1704) of the quarter-wave plate without a gap left therebetween. A light source (22) is bonded at a mount member (22B) thereof to the upper face of the substrate by means of a bonding agent or the like such that an emitting face of a semiconductor laser (22A) and a front face of the mount member contact closely with a portion of a side face (2106) of the polarizing beam splitter without a gap left therebetween.

    摘要: An optical pickup device is placed in a video and/or audio disc player operative to reproduce information recorded in the form of an optical pattern such as a train of pits on a recording disc, in which the direction of light beam emitted from a light source is parallel to the propagation path of light impinging onto and reflected from the recording disc toward a photosensor. A polarization prism is used to deflect the light from the light source toward the recording disc, which prism cooperates with a quarter wave plate to act as a beam splitter.
