摘要: In an optical data transfer system, a beam modulator is configured to embed a set of data in an input beam. A multimode optical waveguide network has an in-coupling region for receiving the input beam. The multimode optical waveguide network is configured to guide the input beam to an out-coupling region of the multimode optical waveguide network. A spatial coherent detector is configured to measure a phase and an amplitude of an output optical field at multiple locations. The output optical field is at least partially defined by the input beam and thus exhibiting distortion effects caused by the passage of the beam through the multimode waveguide network. Signal processing is applied to an output of the spatial coherent detector, in order to compensate for the distortion effects, and thereby recover, from the output of the spatial coherent detector, the set of data embedded in the input beam.

摘要: Described herein are novel azo-benzene type chromophores. The chromophores are useful in photochromic compositions comprising a polymer matrix and a chromophore, wherein the chromophore is a novel azo-benzene type structure. The photochromic composition is photoresponsive upon irradiation by at least one wavelength of laser light across the visible light spectrum. Photochromic devices which comprise the novel azo-benzene type chromophore compound show significantly higher photoinduced birefringence, higher diffraction efficiency, and brighter images than devices that comprise well known azo-benzene chromophores. The photochromic composition may include a liquid crystal.

摘要: The present invention provides a novel photopolymer formulation comprising matrix polymers, writing monomer and a photoinitiator and further comprising a compound of formula (1) where A1, A2 and A3 are each independently hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine, R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are each independently hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro, amino, alkylimino, azide, isonitrile, enamino, formyl, acyl, carboxyl, carboxylate, carboxamide, orthoester, sulphonate, phosphate, organosulphonyl, organosulphoxidyl, optionally fluorinated alkoxy or an optionally substituted aromatic, heteroaromatic, aliphatic, araliphatic, olefinic or acetylenic radical while suitable radicals may be connected together via bridge of any desired substitution, or in that two or more compounds of formula (I) may be connected together via at least one of the radicals R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5, in which case these radicals therein constitute a 2- to 4-tuply functional bridge, with the proviso that at least one of the radicals R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 is not hydrogen. Further subjects of the invention are a photopolymer comprising matrix polymers, a writing monomer and photoinitiator, a holographic medium comprising a photopolymer formulation of the present invention or being obtainable by use thereof, the use of a holographic medium of the present invention and also a process for producing a holographic medium by using a photopolymer formulation of the present invention.

摘要: The present invention provides a visible light photoinitiating system for preparing a holographic photopolymer material with high-diffraction efficiency. The photoinitiating system comprises a photosensitizer and a co-initiator, and its mechanism is that the photosensitizer transforms from ground state to excited state after absorbing photons, and then interacts with the co-initiator through transfer of electrons and protons, which produces an alkyl (or aryl) free radical R and a ketyl radical K; wherein the free radical R initiates the addition polymerization of monomers that are capable of free radical polymerization, whereas the radical K inhibits the chain propagation of the macromolecular free radicals to a certain degree due to the steric hindrance effect, and thus delays the gelation time of the photopolymerization, which helps to increase the phase separation between the polymer and the functional components. A holographic photopolymer material with high-diffraction efficiency can be obtained by employing this visible light photoinitiating system.
