摘要: Provided is a fuel design configured to have a thickness that is equal to or less than a mean-free path of electrons emitted by a radioactive energy source to prevent electrons produced thereby from being stopped within the fuel design and thus decreasing the intensity of bremsstrahlung radiation generated within the fuel design. Additionally provided is a two-phase shielding system including a first shield formed of a first material having a thickness exceeding a mean-free path of an electron emitted from a radioactive source material so as to prevent the electron from passing through the first shield, and a second shield formed of a second material configured to prevent bremsstrahlung radiation generated by the electron from passing through the second shield.

摘要: An irradiation target is formed into a sphere. The spherical irradiation target can be iridium metal containing natural or enriched iridium. The radiation source can be manufactured by manufacturing a spherical irradiation target, accommodating the spherical irradiation target in a rotating capsule, and rotating an axial flow impeller by a downward flow of a reactor primary coolant, whereby the rotating capsule is rotated. This radiation source provides an improved nondestructive inspection image having a high geometric resolution, and has no radiation source anisotropy and also has high target recyclability.

摘要: A neutron sealed source holds cermet wire sources, such as Californium-252/Palladium wires, in separate blind apertures within a stainless steel block. The stainless steel block is part of an inner encapsulation and includes blind apertures arranged in rotational symmetry for receiving the cermet wire sources. The cermet wire sources are separated from each other and the fission and decay heat is rejected through the stainless steel block.
