摘要: A waveguide includes a dielectric substrate, a first conductor layer and a second conductor layer formed on a lower surface and an upper surface thereof, a pair of side wall parts forming side walls of both sides of the waveguide, and a feed part feeding an input signal to the waveguide. The feed part includes a feed terminal formed on the lower surface of the dielectric substrate and does not contact the first conductor layer, a first via conductor connected at a lower end thereof to the feed terminal, a first connection pad connected to an upper end of the first via conductor, and second via conductors that are each connected at a lower end thereof to the first connection pad. The sum of the cross-sectional areas of the second via conductors is greater than the sum of the cross-sectional area of the first via conductor.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for near field radio-frequency (RF) testing of devices, particularly user equipment (UEs) capable of millimeter-wave (mmWave) transmissions. An exemplary test apparatus is described that uses a transducer to facilitate near field over-the-air testing of UEs in the mmWave transmission band. The transducer may be an orthomode transducer and may include a dual-polarity port positioned in the reactive near field of an antenna of a device under test (DUT). For UE signal transmission tests, the orthomode transducer splits test signals received from the antenna of the DUT via the dual-polarity port into a pair of single-polarity RF signals. The single-polarity RF signals are separately fed through a pair of waveguide-to-coaxial adaptors into separate coaxial cables, which feed coaxial transmission versions of the single-polarity RF signals to test equipment for analysis. UE signal reception tests are also described that utilize the same or different orthomode transducer.

摘要: A mechanism is provided to reduce a distance of a waveguide antenna from transmit and receive circuitry in an integrated circuit device die. This distance reduction is performed by providing vertical access to radio frequency connections on a top surface of the IC device die. A cavity in the encapsulant of the package can be formed to provide access to the connections and plated to perform a shielding function. A continuous connection from the RF pads is used as a vertical interconnect. The region around the vertical interconnect can be filled with encapsulant potting material and back grinded to form a surface of the semiconductor device package. A waveguide antenna feed can be plated or printed on the vertical interconnect on the surface of the package.
