Abstract: An asymmetric image transmission method and an electronic device thereof are provided. The asymmetric image transmission method is applicable to transmission of an image signal from a transmitter to a receiver and includes: modifying, by the transmitter, a first image pixel length in the image signal that conforms to a four-byte mode to a second image pixel length of a three-byte mode; transmitting a plurality of image pixels of the second image pixel length in the three-byte mode respectively through three transmission lanes of a transmission interface; and modifying, by the receiver, the second image pixel length of the image pixels to the first image pixel length of the four-byte mode to obtain the image signal.

Abstract: A method of adaptive chroma downsampling is presented. The method comprises converting a source image to a converted image in an output color format, applying a plurality of downsample filters to the converted image and estimating a distortion for each filter chose the filter that produces the minimum distortion. The distortion estimation includes applying an upsample filter, and a pixel is output based on the chosen filter. Methods for closed loop conversions are also presented.

Abstract: In a method to reconstruct a high dynamic range video signal, a decoder receives parameters in the input bitstream to generate a prediction function. Using the prediction function, it generates a first set of nodes for a first prediction lookup table, wherein each node is characterized by an input node value and an output node value. Then, it modifies the output node values of one or more of the first set of nodes to generate a second set of nodes for a second prediction lookup table, and generates output prediction values using the second lookup table. Low-complexity methods to modify the output node value of a current node in the first set of nodes based on computing modified slopes between the current node and nodes surrounds the current node are presented.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for image processing. A data conversion and color-space mapping (DCM) circuit includes an inverse opto-electrical transfer function (IOETF), a color-space converter, and a color-space re-mapper. The IOETF receives image data for one or more frames acquired by an image capture device and transfers the image data from a non-linear domain to a linear domain. The color-space converter converts the linear image data from a first color space to a second color space, where each of the first and second color spaces is based on a gamut of the image capture device. The color-space re-mapper processes the image data to be rendered on a display device by remapping the converted image data from the second color space to a third color space, where the third color space is based on a gamut of the display device.

Abstract: A conversion method for converting luminance of a video, including a luminance value in a first luminance range, to be displayed on a display apparatus includes: acquiring a first luminance signal indicating a code value obtained by quantization of the luminance value of the video; and converting the code value indicated by the acquired first luminance signal into a second luminance value determined based on a luminance range of the display apparatus, the second luminance value being compatible with a second luminance range with a maximum value smaller than a maximum value of the first luminance range and larger than 100 nit. This provides the conversion method capable of achieving further improvement.
