Abstract:
The present invention relates to an osseous pin (1) for bone fracture fixation. The pin comprises a threaded front section (2) and an unthreaded rear section (3). The threaded front section is configured with two or more kerfs (4) to facilitate breaking of the pin at any one of said kerfs. The present invention also relates to a guide sleeve for use in insertion of the osseous pin (1) into bone fragments at a bone fracture and breaking of said pin at the kerf (4) closest to the entrance site of the pin into the bone fragments. The present invention also relates to an extraction member for use in extraction of the osseous pin (1) from bone fragments at a healed bone fracture and a kit, comprising said components.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to an interference screw having a body with a proximal end, distal end, and longitudinal axis extending between thereinbetween. The screw further includes threads for fixing the screw into bone. The screw further includes a through bore defined by the body. The through bore extends between the proximal and distal ends along the longitudinal axis, and has a surface. The screw further includes a controlling member (440) formed by the through bore surface. To install the screw into bone, a surgeon turns the screw with a driver that engages with the controlling member. The driver only engages the controlling member when it is in a driving orientation with respect to the controlling member. Advantageously, with this "one-way" engagement the surgeon can control and confirm the orientation of the driver without seeing the driver and/or screw.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatus and kits for fixation of fractures of bones having an intramedullary canal. An intramedullary rod is inserted into the intramedullary canal of a bone, and proximal and distal screws or pegs are inserted through the bone and through proximal and distal holes in the rod to provide rotational control, wherein the proximal and the distal screws or pegs are headless screws or pegs and are selected to have a size and are inserted through the proximal and distal holes in the rod such that the screws or pegs do not extend substantially beyond an exterior surface of the bone. The methods, apparatus and kits of the invention are in specific embodiments designed for percutaneous placement of intramedullary rods into the intramedullary canal of metacarpal or phalanx bones of the hand to stabilize fractures, and in particular in the proximal or middle phalanx bones of the hand.
Abstract:
An anchor device and system for coupling soft tissue to osseous tissue includes a stopper member that supports a loop of suture material. A fixing member includes features that allow it to be rigidly coupled to surrounding bone and thus hold the stopper member in a cavity within the bone. The loop of suture material, in turn, supports a second suture device, which is coupled to, and thus retains, the soft tissue. In certain embodiments, the fixing member includes a wadding structure having a generally elastic property.

Abstract:
Abstract:
A repair system comprising at least one anchor, screw, or plate comprising a body and a suture capture element formed in the body for attaching at least one suture to the anchor, screw, or plate. The suture capture element being configured so as to permit the suture to be snared by the suture-capture element after the anchor, screw, or plate has been attached to bone.
